3200 ram on low end MB with 2700 support.

I ended up getting one the frys deals last week for the 2700+ sempron.. Can the board handle 3200 ram by limiting the speed on the ram to its max 333?..

3200 is cheaper thats why i ask?

I'm not 100% sure I understand the questions, so this is kind of a guess.

If the mobo only supports PC2700 RAM then you can still use the PC3200 RAM but it'll run at 266 rather than 333.

If the MB will only support PC2700 then putting PC3200 means it will only run at PC2700 speeds. Yes it would work

Not a problem. The PCxxxx speed grade tells you how fast the DIMM _may_ go - but it doesn't have to, anything between 83 MHz and whatever this DIMM's top speed is (200 MHz for PC3200) is perfectly fine.

The actual operating frequency is supplied by the mainboard.
