3200+ @ 2.2

I am new to overclocking, but I have managed to get this thing to run @ 2.2 220x10. I have tried to go higher but I get some stability issues in HL2 and Aquamark. I also tried to go to 250x10 and it locked up tight. I had to pull the battery and reset the cmos. I have the AGP @ 67, HT @ 3x , multiplier @10x, 200 FSB. I think I will leave it for awhile because it seems to run good here, but why can't I go higher? Think its the ram? BTW the BIOS is reporting temps in the low 40's with stock cooling, this is ok right?

Could be the RAM. Check the timings on both and also try to run it with a divider. If thats a retail Winchester, do what i did and remove heatsink and put some good AS on that thing.

If you have value ram you are probably at it's limit. You will need to use the divider. Set the mem at 166 then start raising the fsb. My Crucial Value gave out at 225, so at 1:1 the cpu speed was at 2.25(I've got a 3200 btw). Since then I have put the mem at 166 and have the fsb at 250. Running great.

The fun thing about these A64s is the ability to OC different ways. Much more fun than just raising fsb till it craps out.

Good luck.
