Those guys over at slickdeals are a bunch of losers. Screaming about it, yelling fraud and lawsuit and all that :disgust:
I don't know how much common sense you need to realize that this was a mistake from the get-go and had pretty much zero chance of going through. I don't know why people like that (over in SD) get all bent out of shape about it. Price mistakes happen all the time and there is a lot of fine print to help protect businesses from them. This is not false advertising or a bait and switch. It's a simple error and probably 99.9% of the people who ordered knew this and just gambled. In the end they lost nothing but misguided hope and a little bit of time.

Well, they also lost a little of their privacy. Dell now has their email address, mailing address and phone numbers (and credit card info).
I imagine Dell will now be targeting them for unwanted advertising as well as selling their personal information to other vendors.

Their own dumb fault then. Should have known.

I already had an account with Dell from a laptop purchase several years ago back in 2005 anyway. Dell doesn't email crap and I only get an occasional ad in the mail (like once every several months or so). They don't call me trying to sell me anything either, and I have yet to get unwanted ads or phone calls from others (well, any more than your typical junk mailings).

received this email , in the morning

Dear Customer,

I am sorry to inform you that Dell has canceled your recent order for the Vizio 32? LCD HDTV due to a pricing error. The price shown was incorrect, and was far below the correct price for that product. As indicated on our web site, as well as in our catalogs and other advertisements, Dell reserves the right to cancel orders resulting from pricing errors. Because of the large difference in price, we have not reinstated your order, but we invite you to visit dell.com to re-order at the correct price.

We value our relationship with you, and we sincerely regret this error and the resulting inconvenience. Please be assured that we are working hard to prevent errors such as this one, and to improve your overall customer experience with us.

Sincerely,

The Dell Customer Care Team

Oh man some of the replies there are classic:

Yep, mine is canceled now, not impressed with Dells slow response to this. This obviously will have an impact if I purchase any drastic bargain items in the near future from them.

LOL?

Man those guys are crazy

Isnt it illegal to give out other peoples information without getting permission from them first?

There is usually a disclaimer or a checkbox giving permission

Yeah, they will order 10x more next time to make up for this crime. 😛

Man.... Slick deals and fatwallet. Great resources, abominable user base.

I don't understand why dell didn't cancel the orders friday. Dicking around for 5 days or so was alittle much. I mean why the hell delay the shipping date, then 3 or 4 days later get around to canceling it. They are such teases. 😛

Its a shame that since this order canceled by 8AM this morning, I still have a pending charge on my pay pall account.

I love how paypal loves to do this....

I got them back though, well inadvertantly haha.

They put a negative balance on my account when i withdrew $1200 I had in there. Apparently the $1200 of stuff i just sold they wanted to "review" the payment.

So what do I do?

I printed a stamp that cost $2 to ship something. Since I had a negative balance becuase of their hold.... it forced me to fill the negative . So I charged $1202 to buy a stamp.

The next day my $1200 hold was returned, but Paypal gets stuck with whatever visa charges for making me backfill a $1200 hole with no seller to pay the fees on the other end but paypal itself!

Got myself $12 in chase rewards points baby!
