So I finally decided it was time to take the next step in PC gaming and move from 27" 1440p to a 32" 4k monitor. And my initial feelings are this thing feels too big trying to concentrate on my gaming characters and just the overall environment is overwhelming. I'm sitting about 2 1/2 to 3 feet from the monitor as I'm under the impression this is about the right distance. Looking back I almost wish I would had gotten a 27-28", but that didn't seem like a worthwhile upgrade and supposedly 4k scaling is better at 32" from the research I did before the purchase.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you finally get use to the size? Share your thoughts please.

I am still on 27" 2K Asus LCD monitor but have been considering 32" 4k for sometime now, though I don't know what I will do with current monitor if i get the 32". My monitor has been working for 5 years now and never had any problems. Definetly getting another Asus monitor.
I am thinking about this one it is suppose to be good: Asus ProArt PA329C

When I upgraded, I was moving from a 29" ultrawide. I stuck in storage as a backup monitor. A few years later, my wife's NEC gave up the ghost. I still had that 29" that I put back into service.

I'm currently on a 27" (1440p 144hz 1ms) which I'm happy with. Gaming with mostly car sims and some FPS. But I keep going back and forth between a 32" display and 4k on my next build or if I should still stick with 1440....

I’m actually considering a 48 inch tv to use as a monitor.

correct me if im wrong, but i believe TV's also don't Sleep like monitors do, they have a screen saver, but they don't sleep, well my LG OLED doesn't.

For me this is a real deal breaker for me, as i would hate turning the thing on and off every time.

Did not realize there was nothing above 60hz in 4k.

LOL...
That's because running 4k Higher then 60fps is very difficult to pull off, and would require a budget larger then 85% of the people's entire PC cost just on the GPU alone.

My Samsung turns itself off after 5 minutes of no signal. If what you are saying is true, then that would be a deal breaker for me too. I'm off to find the owner's manual...

For whatever reason Linux has trouble driving my 2 4ks at 60hz. Had to drop one to 30, but even then started to get weird glitches 1 reboot ago, so had to drop them both to 30. Even in year 2000 I was running a higher refresh rate than that! I recall 60hz being hard on the eyes back when it was CRTs, let alone 30. I'm surprised 30 is not bad but I can't really tell a difference. There is probably some persistence built into the LCD circuit itself so the pixels stay on all the time. Gaming would probably be horrific on this though, but I use this machine just for regular stuff so it seems fine even at 30.

Right. I never shop on the high end so I have no idea what is or is not available up there.. my budget is smaller than 99% of pc users. I am well aware the gpu load would be high.

I thought on my last visit to microcenter I saw a large "tv sized" monitor specifically built for gaming. I assumed it was over 60hz but I didn't really pay attention to it because I would never buy something like that myself.
