i'm trying to get into something else, since all this rap is becoming garbage-only a couple of good artists. Kanye West is one since he releases/produces so much material.

check out the underground hip hop thread, rap is not 'becoming' a bunch of garbage

or maybe i started to realize most of it was crap/maybe i didn't know what good music was/is?/undeground rap is a strange thing, depending on what you consider to be underground. Some would say Roots and Talib Kweli are underground, but they're too good and have such good production with so many fans. People like Necro are just fvcking weird. Thanks for all the titles though.

i would consider roots and kwel underound because they still dont have a mainstream fan base. you wont hear their songs on the radio. albums dont go platinum. of course, in every underground act, there's going to be to those shining stars. thats what they are to me. but that still doesnt stop me from putting in a hiero album or a louis logic album, even though they will prolly never crack 250k anytime in the near future. and yes, there are a few "out-there" artist, but for every 1 of those, there's 5 decent emcee's out there with a message/story in their lyrics.

roots wre on constant rotation with seed 2.0 and don't say nuttin. kweli is known very well due to quality, and beautiful mixtape which was great. The thing is, is that I like some of the gangsta stuff like Cam'Ron and Joe Budden (remake of Billy Joel's Big Shot as a diss to 50 Cent-need i say more?) and people think its cool to listen to undergroun, but you can see the production in a Kanye West beat, and the production in a lower end beat from Stoupe from JMT.

Yeah, I heard about that in like '95 and knew right away it was complete bullshit.

Didn't know Snopes had a thing about it though, that's pretty cool.

that is true, but in my area, those songs never got airplay. :p but in all seriousness, some mainstream will appeal to me (nas is in constant rotation in my cd player). i guess its what you listen to. heck, quality is 1k away i believe from going gold. so, in my posts, even though i admit to listen to some underground, heck, even quote it in my posts, i dont want to come off as an elitist, because there are a few mainstream artists i will listen to. as far as kanye goes, i do think he is a pretty good producer (but im biased, a lot of songs he samples i grew up listening to), but i think his rapping is wretched. i fast forward to the mos def/common/kweli verses in his songs. but yes, there a lot of talented producers out there who will never hear their song become a trl #1 hit (stoupe from jedi like you mentioned, tek, j.j. love from demigodz/odd couple)

edit: and yes, i know, im leaving out a ton of talented producers... :D

yeah-kanye's flow is messed up, but remember-he's mostly a punchline rapper with many homophones.

actually, i believe 311 is the police code for public indecency which the bass player, pnut was arrested for

Yo P-nut, beat that thing!!!

"Gap" was a cool song. Only on the b-side cd that comes with the video. I have no clue what happened to my video.

They've been around a lot longer than that.
