It's worth it for the value of entertainment I'll get. I can daydream for 3 days about the fortress I'll build to keep everyone out, if I win.
Some of the other teachers refer to me as eccentric. I'll show them eccentric. I'll go to garage sales, and buy used goods that no one else would ever consider purchasing. AND, I'll haggle over the price. "I see you have 50 cents on this pile of your deceased husband's used underwear. Will you accept 25 cents for it?" (Of course, I'd just throw them out, but I'd be amused by the rumours about me)

If lotteries will continue to fund education. . . then hell, I'm in, as we all know tax money and funding from government grants is still not enough to keep us educated compared to the rest of the world.
hehe, where I grew up stereotypically it was rich white people (didn't know what to do w/thier money)and impoverished white/black people that bought tickets.
People do win, and they sure as hell don't regret it. How is buying lottery tickets different from any other form of entertainment?

Spend $1 on a lottery ticket - entertainment.
Spend $8 on a movie ticket - entertainment.
Spend $5 on a raffle ticket (to support a charity) - donation, entertainment, a much higher chance of winning
Spend $2 on the Sunday paper - some news and entertainment (comics) (all of which I could view for free online)
I don't look upon any of those as investments. Therefore, I can't lose.
People who purchase more than one ticket, either are capable of developing fantasies proportional to the number of tickets they purchase i.e. they can dream about what they would do if they won more than I can after purchasing only 1 ticket, or they are dumb.
Buying a lottery ticket would rob me of my self respect. For most people the 1 in 100 million odds are the only chance they'll ever alter their miserable lives. If you've managed to find your way to a computer forum, you should be above that.

You know what for $1 to get in its worth it because in the end SOMEONE has to win but if you dont play it will not be you.
And this is sooo funny because someone in this thread will win just to prove it. Its like my wife the other day bitching when we went to a new Town (to us, small and only 4 majore streets) and I was looking for a Lowes or Home depot. We went down every street but one and my wife started to bitch and wanted to go to Walmart and for me to give up there isnt one in the town. I looked at her and told her she would eat her words if we went down the last street and there was one.
Well sure as hell as I went around the bend of the street after saying that there was a Lowes. I never laughed so hard and forced her to say she was sorry for bitching. Then to add more injury to it they were have a 50% sale on all plants (she loves plants) and some were even 25 cents. OH I loved that day
So anyway because you are bitching about "white trash" playing the lottery I think I might push my chances and see if my luck holds out and slap you in the face with my winning ticket.
