I don't know why people have such a hard time losing weight, I am in my late late 30's and it just comes off when I want it to or not.

I was in my best shape around 180lbs...now at 197.

I don't have a hard time losing weight either. I just go through long periods where my cost/benefit analysis of losing weight keeps returning a "not worth it" result. Eventually I get my mind off food and onto the fairer sex and that does it. Comes right off when I decide to buckle down and make the sacrifices required to lose it though.

Congrats on your weight loss, but that's a pretty ignorant attitude to have. That's like saying "I don't know why people have such a hard time learning to play the violin" or "I don't know why people have such a hard time doing multivariable calculus". It's because there are pretty large genetic and environmental differences between everyone and while you may have an easy time losing weight, others struggle with it immensely. Of course, I could also ask why you got fat in the first place if your weight "just comes off when [you] want it to or not", but hopefully you get my point.

I half agree with this post but I will say that it's only that easy because you were so far above your body's natural composition the second you started doing something it comes off. Try shredding up to abdominals now.

Seems like you are constantly getting out of shape. It's best not to have to always get back in shape.

Probably has more to do with what you are eating than walking your dog. Most of weight loss is due to change in diet.

Yep, no doubt. I used to be able to eat anything and everything when powerlifting, now the metabolism's slowing down so I'm counting calories. Gotta love mother nature.

That's funny, coming from alkemyst who quite recently I'm positive was deriding others for laziness behind a computer. By the way you write, aklemyst, I had assumed you were 250 lbs of pure muscle and a 2:10 marathoner.

I lost 200 lbs in 3 seconds by pushing your mom off me.

Winner.

I just finished gaining 30lbs in 2 months.

I understand your situation though. There were a couple times in my life where I got into great shape without really trying that hard, just because everything in my life happened to fall into place perfectly. Once I was really broke in college, and also really focused on a couple of projects for my Comp. Sci. classes and fell into a routine of eating just a packet of spaghetti each day and then coding all day. I didn't really think about it, and I was in this weird zen like state where I didn't really care about the limited diet I was eating or about not having money. I got super lean. Didn't have money to buy junk like pizza, burgers, juice, or soda.

Another time I just one day started running 3x a week, and each time i ran I made sure to run at least one more block than the previous run. I got into pretty good shape back then. I also didn't have money to burn on fast food and soft drinks, so I got pretty lean. Got bad knee pain from running downhill on the 2nd half of the runs so I had to stop.
