Pretty much in line with what was expected: comfortably nestled between the 1660 Super and the 1660 Ti.
Now, if only the actual in-store price two days from now would follow MSRP, instead of scalping...

The preorders in Japan sold out immediately at the equivalent of $400 U.S. so I would not get your hopes up just yet.

That's a pretty thin interval to be in lol. About what I figured this card would be though, 1660 Super/Ti performance. The Nvidia official slides made it look like a 1070 Ti with DLSS but I knew those numbers wouldn't hold once the benchmarks weren't done with their cherry picked games and settings.

He's my favorite GPU reviewer right now... I think that he's the only one who is as ticked off with the shortages as the rest of us are.

It's gotta be killing the views he gets. Though I hate calling it a shortage like Nvidia's not producing a ton of these cards, it's miners driving demand through the roof that's to blame.

So you're boned even buying it on launch day. Also that EVGA card tested is $330 MSRP since EVGA put the $330 BIOS onto the supposedly $250 card review samples they sent out.

This card would suck for mining through... no? It's probably an LHR model, until someone hacks the BIOS and the drivers to get around it, anyway.

My hunch is that some savvy developer will reverse engineer those drivers to get around the hash rate limit for the 3050.

If they did, though, it would probably be best for them to keep it quiet and just horde the cards for their own mining operation :)

In a vacuum where the 3060 regularly goes for $600 on second hand markets, it seems like ~$400-$450 is a likely landing point for this guy.

Right up next to the 6600, and let's face it nvidia has long been able to command a premium vs AMD gpus so that makes sense.

But DLSS! lol.

During this shortage I bought a 1070 FE and a GTX 1660 DDR5 6GB and they both felt underwhelming, and then I got hold of a solidly clocked EVGA GTX 980ti and while it might burn some power it dusted them both in Borderlands 3, my game of choice. I guess I am saying I feel like a 1070 is in a no mans land for performance comparison - you get to turn up some sliders but not all of them even at 1080p.

If you can get it directly at ~$350 that seems like a "deal" in todays market. $250 is a myth, imo. Nvidia just couldn't price it at $330+ without admitting that the 3060 MSRP was also a myth. Happy hunting! I'll pull the trigger if I see the right one.

Its the same story we've heard for just about every single card launch save one: Great card, terrible street price.

Given these are all cut GA106 chips means expect supply to run into a wall in short order. From the sounds of it through, the boards are being engineered for a clean GA107 drop in so when laptops stop eating that supply of chips or NV allocates more wafers to GA107 then there will likely just need to be some quiet box/branding revisions but things will be in place to keep cards shipping.

Now that scalpers have essentially pushed GPUs to whatever price people will pay. It's interesting to see how much more people are willing to play for NVidia cards.

The RTX 3060 has similar MSRP and performance to the RX 6600, and yet the street price appears at least $200 higher on the 3060.

Maybe, but when they are turning it on at 1080p - or running at lower quality settings to squeeze out 1440p performance at 60 fps - but other wise you could have had a 1070 or 1660 Super this whole time at very similar prices - it makes me shrug. As the headline enhancement, meh.

It gets parroted other places like Ars over and over and over like it's just a feature you can't game without. If then new GPU you bought doesn't do DLSS, throw it away! ;) So it triggers me and that's my fault.

I also think that DLSS is a little bit of gimmick to make use of extra compute hardware that is otherwise a solution looking for a problem. That's just my opinion, I don't need to try to change yours if you disagree :)
