I might be able to do some screencaps of a dvd and hddvd later in the week (I have serenity on both so that should make for a good comparison), what resolution would you want the display set to for the dvd (as I would assume you dont want to see ffdshows scaling just the hqv scalar), I can definitely set windows to 720p and 1080p for the hd-dvd, not sure what will happen if I try to run vista at 720x480 for the dvd.
 
Yeah don't use FFDShow (i have mine set to upscale to double everything 720p or lower)...i want to see how well the display's scaler does, not how well FFDShow does.

I'd like to see how 480p scales (to fill 1600p), vs. 1080p, sure.

Also a game of your choosing would be awesome.

I don't want to you waste a lotta time over this; i know it's a PITA.

Just would be nice to see some quick comparisions.
 
Sorry didn't realize you ordered but I woulda said Dell due to the IPS panel (Gateway S-PVA experiences more color/gray shifting). The Dell's wide gamut is also nice for movies and games. The Gateway does have some nice scaling options though.
