well, i first bought a week 51 3000 winnie from newegg and it was ok i guess. i could get into windows at 2.7ghz but could prime it or do much else. anyhow, i ventured to the local computers plus and found a week 32 ( i think it's 32, i forgot to write all the info down as i was in a hurry to get that sucker in and running). anyhow, the new cpu did 2.8 and got me into windows, not stable of coarse. anyhow... im still fooling with the settings and trying to squeeze some more out of the winnie. id like some suggestions on getting this thing higher from you more experienced guys.

rig specs are:
K8N Neo2 Platinum
3000 winnie
Gig of PQI PC3200 Turbo Platinum
OCZ Powerstream 520
Watercooled

im currently running at:
HTT-285
HTT Multi-3x
Multi-9x
Divider-133 (which has my ram running at 190 i believe with 2-2-2-5 timings)
Vcore-1.7v

now, im pretty happy with my o'clock in terms of the fact that im running at 2.56ghz. however, what id like to do is to be able to bump the divider up to 166 which bumps my ram up to 228 and adds quite a bit of bandwidth. the thing is..... when i put it to that setting its not stable hardly at all. it shuts down during prime in a matter of seconds. i ran this same ram in my NF7 with my 2400-m at 240fsb with timing of 2.5-3-3-11 and was stable, so i dont understand why it wont do 228 at those same timings. any suggestion on how i can improve my o'clock here guys. i sure would appreciate it. and yes, ive read all the stickies (multiple times) and any other thing i can get my eyeballs on.

thanks

i think i may have found the culprit. i am typing this right now at 250x9 at 1:1 with 2.5-3-3-7 timings and ran prime for five minutes just fine with no errors where as the settings i mentioned earlier wouldnt run for five seconds. what i think is causing me some troubles is that the htt multi isnt changing. in the bios i set it to 3x, but once i get into windows cbid shows that my overall htt speed is 1000mhz (250x4) when it should be 750 (250x3). i believe that if it would actually drop the multi like its suppose to i could get the htt/ram up higher. im pretty sure this ram will do fine at 250 and prolly then some and should have NO problem with 240. anyone else had this issue with the htt multi not changing? i have the most recent bios for my mobo, version 1.4.

That vcore is rather high for a winnie, hope your temps are ok.

Haven't heard of the HTT multi not holding though.

yeah, my temps are fine...... i have watercooling. use to run 2.0 volts on my mobile system. i cant figure out this htt multi deal though. have you ever checked to see what your htt is with CBID (central brain I.D.) and made sure your htt multi is actually changing?

Try CPU-Z to check your HTT, I've never heard of problems with it 'sticking' like that. Your O/C looks pretty decent but I would say that your mem divider trouble is RAM related. This setup is really picky when it comes to RAM. I had some Corsair XMS 3200, and one of the modules absolutely wouldn't work over 220 HT, no matter what divider or timings I used which leads me to believe there's something with the on die FSB that causes it. Also like mickles said your v-core is too high, there's a point on these chips where more volts does more harm than good. Since the die is so small it will induce 'crosstalk' which produces errors, or at the least hinders performance. I've also seen a lot of people say that raising the vcore well past stock has little effect on getting a higher O/C in most cases. Good luck!

where on cpu-z would i find this info? i see nothing about the htt multi or overall htt speed. ill check to see if i have an outdated version of cpu-z.

CPU-Z will tell you your base HTT value, but nothing about what multiplier or actual speed it's running at. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have the latest and it ain't there.

I would drop the HTT to x2 instead of x3. There will be no performance difference, and it allowed me to go from 9x285 to 8.5 x 300 with my 3000+ 100% stable. Its a simple test, so give it a try.

My bad, had HTT and HT mixed up...
