If you could have $3000 to spend on Pc components, cases, psu etc what would your dream rig be? I want to know why you choose these components too! Please list your dream rigs(for future usage also)

Well I guess for 3G's Id have what I have with a better processor (dont know how feasible) and another 8800GTX

That is about alll maybe some better ram

Does this include things like monitors, speakers, keyboards, mouse, and not yet released products (but we know their coming soon..)?

Yes , this is of course to see what type of rig you could build with as many gadgets and accessories(spending every last nickel)

I bet if I converted the cost of my rig into American dollars it would be more than 3K, so discounting the ridiculous like supercomputing clusters and plasma monitors as big as your house, I think i already have my dream machine:

- Q6600 overclocked to 3.4Ghz on all cores. I reckon a faster processor is not available for the PC.
- 4GB of DDR2 overclocked to ~945Mhz.
- 8800GT not overclocked - it doesn't need it.
- 22" LCD monitor.
- all the trimmings.

So what about if we don't discount the ridiculous? This would be quite nice... 1.344 TFLOPs per rack...

there you go. i can keep my klipsch speakers. toss in a copy of Windows XP for bootcamp goodness.

The mac daddy pimp =O, i take it most seem to like the quad q6600 cheap + o.c potential,
and nearly all forums i visit seemingly most like the 8800gt, not too expensive yet good o.c
, does that mean that most are nvidia fan's? How about the x2 hd3870 ?

What do you mean by dream PC? To play all current games on max with 1600x1200 res you need 1.5K PC. Video editing - slightly more. Also, with technology changing so often nowadays your today's dream PC has a potential of becoming a 'regular' PC tomorrow or an 'outdated' the day after.

...a pc with jessica alba sitting atop it?

I really see no reason to spend more than 2k for a pc at all right now.
For 2K you can build a really nice water-cooled system that can hit 4k OC'd while warming up.

3k is so low...

dual xeon quad cores,
a gob ton of ram (32gb anyone),
a single GPU (im not a gamer),
a raid setup with multiple SSDs,
tri 24" Dell LCDs,
HDTV recorder (for recording off my 360)

[CPU] QX9770
[HSF] TRUE
[Mobo] ASUS Striker II Formula or Foxconn Dreadnought
[GPU] 3x 9800GX2
[RAM] 8GB DDR3
[Sound Card] Auzentech X-Fi Prelude
[Case] Antec 900
[PSU] Corsair HX1000

Some of those parts aren't on the market yet, I didn't take into account peripherals, and I think I may have gone over budget 😱.

Ok whats the cheapest you could build with good/high specs? buying parts from established retailers? as including keyboard/mouse ,speakers?

Jessica Alba has fallen on hard times if she is making appearances for $3k
