300 zx vs. Supra : styling/handling/cost/performance

Hi, I'm looking to buy an old car for a hobby and to impress the ladies! What's better in terms of styling, handling, price, performance, mods, etc... Thanks!
Not considering any other cars at the moment... so please stick to the top cars. Thanks guys!!!

Nice picks - the 300ZX in my opinion looks better than a supra. Are you going to get the turbo or either one? I hear the NA for the 300ZX is easily modded, but probabaly the same can be said of the supra. Not sure on handling...

Personally, I think the last-gen Supras are better looking than the last-gen 300ZX's.

Its a tough call, I know that the last gen supra turbos with the fin in black look sharper than hell, but then for a 1990 vehicle the 300zxs look pretty damn bad ass too

In 1991 I bought a new 300ZX TT. It was an outstanding car. The amount of aftermarket performance equipment available will keep you broke for years. After 18,000 miles I gave it up because my lady at the time didn't care for the very firm ride. I should have kept the car. I drove the Supra and wasn't all that impressed.

If you are looking at the 93-up supra it definitely look better than the 90-up 300Z.
As far as handling, definitely the 300Z.

The Z have 4WS great for corning at highspeed.

The supra is good for 1/4 miles with lots and lots of modz!

IMO, the Supra totally kills the ZX aesthetically!!!, i think the ZX has a slight refinement edge so it may be a little more sophisticated looking at alike a hollywood dinner party or something, but for pure sports-i-ness, It's all SUPRA!!! and speed and handling wise, ... c'mon now, have any of you looked at some of the numbers and specs? they're pretty standard throughout the internet, the Supra totally rocks!!! i'm not dissing Nissan by any means,... the Skyline is totally a kick@$$ car, but as for Supra vs ZX, i go Supra all the way!!!

If price is an issue - the ZX is cheaper than the Supra (from what I've seen).

I'm looking in the years of 93+ for the Supra and 91+ for the 300zx, I believe these were the latest designs for each.
I can acquire a '95 300zx for $15,000 or a '96 Supra for $24,000.
I personally like the styling of 300zx, but I heard the Supra's got fat ass performance even for their automatics! I live in La so manual isn't all that useful or fun, in fact it's more of a bother.
I heard Stock Supra Automatics can do 13 second 1/4 mile times.
But I have to say, if I spent the 15k on the 300zx and used the other 9k I woulda spent on the Supra to mod the 300 zx, I'd have a sweet twin turbo setup. Obviously I'd take a Porsche 911 Turbo over anything but I don't got that kinda $$$

Hey Supradude, obviously you're partial to the Supra =). But the Supras got that fat a$$ butt sticking out. I do like the tail lights though. I think the 300zx has a more solid look. Oh... and with the sea of 2nd generation Eclipses out there with the rounded edges like the Supra, it gets hard for the babes to tell the expensive Supras from the more budgeted Eclipse. They might mistake my Supra for a heavily modded Eclipse, oh no!
I'd turn the Supra into a non-street legal daily driver, hehehehe. But of course my gf doesn't like cars and prolly thinks it's a waste of $$$ to get another one.
I hope my gf doesn't get into this thread.

I haven't seen the performance numbers but I would think it very very unlikely for a late-model supra turbo doing 13 second 1/4 miles with an auto trans...auto just kills a car's power.

I'd choose a supra over 300zx
but, of course, that's just based on looks...

Supra looks better, but I'd take the 300ZX. Heard it has great handling. If I had my way though, I'd take a RX7 instead..

I'd most definitely take a Supra... if you unleash its full engine potential (it's practically just a detuned 500 hp engine), then you've got one sweet car... seen one (after all its mods of course) with lots of hp... 700 maybe?? i can't recall, but it had a lot...

EDIT: How about a 3000GT VR4??? It's a tad bit on the heavy side, but it's really nice...

I have a 96 Supra Turbo. It's quite sweet and would recommend one. If you get one make sure to take out the electronic speed limiter, especially if you're going to take it to the track. BTW, one thing that really annoyed me about the car was the pain in the butt in removing the roof. They should have made it easier.

iotone: I heard 3000GTs are technological wonders, but they're also bricks.
VR4 would be sweet, but I'm probably as likely to find one in America as I am a true Integra Type-R. I've heard of a 640hp Supra in Miami. $80k in Mods. I'm pretty much gonna go with simple mods like exhaust, headers, intake, and then some turbo with left over $$$.
skoorb: I saw the 13 sec 1/4 mile time in one of the issues of SCC magazine last year. They said it wasn't exactly head shattering acceleration, but for an auto, it's amazing.
