$30 USB modem that works in Linux

I had to do some searching for a USB modem that works in Linux, but I found one.

I got one recently and it works great. I used kppp and I had to increase the pppd timeout limit but other than that (and figuring out how to set it up) there weren't any problems.

$30 isn't exactly scorching hot but the only other ones I could find that I know for a fact work in Linux were much more expensive. I thought someone else might be looking for one, so I thought I would post. It is also pretty small so it easily fits in a laptop bag.

Well, it says Win95 and Win98, but doesn't state 2000/XP compatible, so I would think they don't have drivers for it.

The other issue is it's not the new V.92 standard. If your ISP doesn't suport it, they will eventually. I really only need a modem for faxing occasionally, but it has to be compatible with XP and 2000 for me.

Good price for USB modem though.

The Zoom Modem V.92 USB Mini Model 3090 is the one I've been looking at getting and it's $59.99 at Staples.
