i've been trying to set up Trac on dreamhost for 2 days now and i'm getting really frustrated. i've put the details of what i've done, and what goes wrong (at the top) up at:

http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Trac

if anybody wants to give it a shot, i can give you a shell account... if you can get Trac set up and tell me what i was doing wrong, i'll paypal you $30.

You must have missed a step in the initial configuration.

/home/username/lib/libsvn_swig_py-1.so.0

Unless your web directory really is called "username", then you forgot to change the config to use the actual paths.

i've seen those a few too many times :( the first one didn't seem to make a difference... wasn't sure if it should be '-lswigpy' or '-L/home/username/lib -lswigpy' but neither one worked in any case. for the second one, this is shared hosting, so i don't have enough permission to update the dynamic loader... but i've set LD_LIBRARY_PATH, so i think that should be enough?

for the second one, this is shared hosting, so i don't have enough permission to update the dynamic loader...

Maybe your host would be willing to do that part for you?

I'd be willing to bet SagaLore is right, you may not have the permissions to do that. Contact your host about having that done.

hmmm, so what exactly does that do? i don't think my host would be willing to make a change that puts my own lib directory into ld.so.conf for all users... is there a way to make my own and use that instead? i have enough permission to run 'ldconfig -n /home/username/lib' but that didn't do anything...

Try linking the library without using LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Looks like it is not always reliable.

/home/username/lib

this is kind of over my head... how about i give you a shell account, and if you can get trac set up (and tell me what i was doing wrong), i'll give you $30?
