They're both 210. Unless Virgin has a freakishly high price for XBox

I just called the LA Sunset Strip store. They are sold out of all systems -- and said they had no idea when they would get more.

Hmmm --- can someone Email me if Sunset strip gets any stock.

I drove just under 2 hours to Columbus hoping for a PS2, then when I saw they had 11 of them, I just decided to buy them out to pay for the trip (and then some). Someone told me I had missed the last X-Box bundle by a few hours on that same day. Oh well, still a great deal. Hoping to get $285-290 a piece for them on Egay.

Just called the Burbank store. They had no consoles either -- and even said that they had no Gamecubes on order. I have a feeling they are not going to going out of their way to keep consoles in stock as long as they have this sale going on.

Thanks for the post ktg. Sadly, I couldn't get in on the deal for a console either. Some greedy b@stard's been emptying my nearest store - Grapevine Mills. If I miraculously get one, however, I'll try and get an extra for you - it's the least I can do to show some gratitude towards you for posting the deal. Happy holidays!

Ninth.

Went to Arizona Mills store this evening, and when I got there, I saw someone doing the Anandtech shuffle in the games Dept. You know...wandering the aisles, picking up things and pretending to be interested, while really waiting to make you move on the remaining consoles...scoping out the crowd for other HD junkies...

Anyway, I did the same to give him a chance to make his move. He got in line, then I did behind him. He then got out of line and hovered some more. I figured, oh well. I got to the front and bought the last 3 PS2s.

If you're out there, mystery shopper, PM me if you want one. I can meet youthere and return it if you want. I feel bad, but I didn't have all night to wait to see if you were going to buy one.

And what was the decision on the AT signal? I remember it coming up a while back in a target thread, but don't remember what the best way to identify ourselves was. ;)

I highly reccomend the Monev The Gale action figure in the anime toy section... IT ROCKS! Considered toy of the year by many, Monev The Gale is from Trigun, to see pics, just search Monev on ebay. Good stuff! Also, In NYC, I hear they are getting in a shipment of xboxes by next week...! The 16 they got in on monday sold out in less than an hour... I was lucky to get away with a ps2.

Good Luck!

I was at the one in SF and they are absolutely cleaned out! Not even a single console, no ps2, no xbox, and a bunch of empty gamecube boxes! And I bought a Diana Krall CD thinking that I could get a discount over a discounted price (Retail was 18.99, and the store discounted price was 14.99) but when I used my Amex Blue, they took the 30% discount off the RETAIL price! It was still about $1 cheaper than their discounted price but it wasn't a HOT Deal because I had to drive 60 miles to SF! Gas alone cost me about $10.

Heard some people got Xboxs for 30 percent off, and BTW you could get a PS2 for about 230 after taxes (7.5%)
PRETTY HOT DEAL!

I went to the SF store on Monday and made purchases on three occassions without any problem getting 30% off of their sales price (which was usually 15-20% off list). That made the total discount of 40-44%. They also calculated the 30% discount on the tax as well. I probably will return when new CD/DVD product is released and "on sale" every Tuesday or so.

<< do ppl really need 3 PS2?! >>

At that price, they're good presents to spoil my nieces and nephews with. Plus good for E-bay.

At least I didn't buy 17! ;)

Rally1 - definitely keep me posted if you hear of the Costa Mesa Virgin getting any more consoles.

I asked the guy to check his system, and he said that none were even on order, but I'm still holding out hope!

All these people asking if a certain store has a certain item makes no sense to me. Even if someone told you "yea, when I went they had this item there" doesn't mean that when you decide to go the item is still going to be there. The best why to find out is to clal the store and ask. It's not that hard and it'll be a lot quicker then waiting for someone to reply here. Go to the Virgin Megastore website and look up the phone number of your local store and clal them and ask. Easy.

now let's try to decide how to optimize the coupon book and 30% off on 12/26.

we have 5 off game, 5 off 30, two 10 off 50, two 25 off 100.
everything at Virgin is at msrp.
how about
gamecube console = 200 - 25 = 175 x 0.7 = 122.5 + tax
two ps2 memory + controller = 35x3 - 25 = 80 x 0.7 = 56 + tax
one game + something cheap (if there is something for $1) = 51 - 10 = 41 x 0.7 = 28.7 + tax
ditto
gc controller = 35 - 5 = 30 x 0.7 = 21 + tax
one game = 50 - 5 = 45 x 0.7 = 31.5 + tax

That is if they allow you to use both the coupon and the discount at the same time! If so... that rocks!!!

<< What's the chance that they'd give a Blue card to a poor college student??? :( >>

Pretty good. I have one! And some of my other poor as dirt college friends had no problem getting one, which scares me.
