30" LCD for $699...............no rebate @ microcenter

Search on Google for Powerspec 30" and you'll read up on some reviews (About.com and Geek.com comes to mind).

Per some reviewers, if the monitor is manufactured after 1/1/05 then the DVI comes standard. Only pre-1/1/05 monitors don't have DVI.

Looking at their website, they have the DVI version listed at $1000 AR

And the same LCD without DVI listed for $699

Don't know how much difference there would be, I'm sure most people would only use this for movies and won't notice the difference. Think I might head over there tomorrow and check it out.

Edit: The brightness and power consumption specs are a little different too.

im liking mine so far, dvd's in progressive look great, and SD content via svideo looks pretty damn good, it comes with the backlight set to max, so you'll get it and the picture is a little washed out, just turn it down to 50% like the rest and your good. im going to try and pick me up an hdtv wonder...

Trying to figure, so all the new models now have DVI? Or do you gotta shell out the 1000$. Looks like a really sweet deal, surprised this thread isnt staying up!

the fact that there are not many available and there aren't many microcenters make it not appealing to everyone. the ones with dvi at 1199.99 with a 100 rebate that'll take who knows how long, so its either 699.99 out the door or 1199.99 out the door? 500 dollars for a dvi port? you make the call? its plus tax too, so its more like 540 for a dvi port.

They cancelled my order those bastards!

I don't think this is really a great computer monitor anyway.. 1280x768 max resolution is kinda crappy..

yea, im going to use it mainly as a tv, i might try hooking up a computer sometime, i do have an x800 pro vivo anyways that outputs component, so i don't think it'll be a problem.

Here you go guys, here are actual pictures from the actual LCD from the Tustin Store.. thanks to a friend on mine JazzDoc @ TechoLiO

note the price of $999, so order online and pickup at store

I ordered one online and picked it up locally- no shipping ;-) The guy at the exit took my receipt and checked the computer and printed out a $100 rebate form for me! I'm going to send it in and see what happens. A 30" LCD HDTV for $652 total is an incredible deal. BTW, this TV looks magnificent watching progressive scan DVDs on the component inputs!

jesus, you got a 100 rebate? could you scan that for me? i got the tv yet no rebate, but i bet the rebate would work. pppplleease help me out. and yes, dvd's in progressive do look damn nice, im about to now buy an ota hdtv receiver cause i just can't resist now.

The rebate is for the model with DVI. They might have just confused the two. I went today to the one in Santa Clara, CA. They were all out of this model but had the DVI model for 799 after 100 MIR. I didn't buy it cuz they had the Olevia right next to it. There was a huge difference. Now I need time to think if it's worth the extra $ to get the Olevia.

well........after hours and hours of torture...I gave in.

Went to the Microcenter at Virginia.
Look for the LC30.

They have the "YELLOW-TAG" item, which mean returned and inspected.
(I happen know the head of technician in there anyway)

I walked out the door w/ a ~~~~~~~$560~~~~~~~~ 30" LCD !!!!!!!!!!!!! (still have one full year warranty from the day of purchase)

oh lord, don't hate me because I know how to save. 🙂

If you plan on using this for movie watching buying an HD display without HDCP protection is a mistake. You will not be able to use the new HD DVD formats on it.

Even the new low-end CRT HDTVs have HDMI inputs now.

well mine broke last night, and good thing it did. too all the damn haters out there who don't even have an hdtv i now have the new model with dvi, faster response and overall better specs for 699 out the damn door. eat that jackasses, they even threw in the 3year replacement because of the trouble....
