There are definitely times when I wish I had $600 lying around or a good excuse to buy a nice monitor at a good price. Sadly it isn't one of those days :(

This looks very similar to the HP ZR30W specs. Are there any reviews of this? I'd like to get one as a second monitor

Really considering pulling the trigger on the single-input Dual Link DVI-D 30" IPS display. Does anyone have any experience with it or other Monoprice IPS monitors?

With a 30 day money back guarantee, I'm very tempted to see if I can get a nice display with no dead pixels, backlighting or other visual abnormalities.

Any idea how long I might expect this deal to be active?

Lots of people saying it isnt LED and that it has bad color uniformity. Just from a quick google search. I suppose since it is monoprice, its worth the chance though.

if you know anyone that is a hp partner, they can get you a ZR30W for less than 300 bones.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've decided to pass on this. Displays will only get cheaper as the days turn into weeks and weeks into months, though, eh?! There will be more hot deals! :D

Would it kill them to start putting at least one Display Port on cheap monitors? Seriously. My work laptop has DP out, and I don't want to mess around with a clunky adapter. How much could it add to the price?

Quite a lot since to add a DP you'd have to add a board to take more than one signal and convert it through a converter board. DVI is cheap, easy, and prevalent. DP is still more expensive and no monitor maker would be stupid enough to release ONLY DP, so they have to include DVI and DP, which means converter boards and greater cost.

It's also worth noting that by adding one of those boards, they're also typically adding a decent amount of input lag from the board they use to give you scaling options.

Pure DVI straight through ensures very little lag. Personally, since I'm still using a 3007WFP-HC with only DVI-D (dual), I hope they keep making them for many years to come to keep GPU makers putting those ports on their cards.

Have you seen how horrible those active conversion kits are to convert from DP to dual DVI? They suck something awful. Let the world continue to suffer through bulky cabling to keep me from having to buy ANOTHER high cost monitor when the one I have is working just fine.

Perhaps you should just save up all yer pennies and get a more expensive monitor if you need all those connections. You really shouldn't be buying all that many monitors in the long run anyway. I've had 4 in my whole life. A crappy 15", a 21" Viewsonic CRT (Room Heater), a 20" Dell 2001FP, and this one. I'm currently using the 30" Dell as my primary display and the 20" as a secondary.

I could have settled for cheapo monitors along the way, but why do that?

Really, is it too much to ask to go pay good money for a great monitor once in a blue moon? This is that thing you're going to be staring at for MANY years to come. Splurge. Splash out the cash on the things that really matter.

Buy less $1k GPU's and $100+ mice and keyboards and $300+ cases and drop the cash on something that really matters.

Bought one and got it last night - excellent monitor so far.

It's very bright, case is fully metal (no plastic casing), and comes with DP DVI cable.

I bought one of these last month. In terms of the build quality these panels are really cheap. The actual image quality is very nice, though.

I had to get a replacement unit twice, first time because there was a smudge on the screen on the inside. Second time the bezel was bent in several places. Make sure you guys check over these units closely. Good thing is that Monoprice has a great replacement/return policy.

I got mine in today, it is a really really nice monitor for the price. I have 1 stuck pixel in the far bottom right corner, that I am not too worried about, it is in the taskbar and doesnt catch my eye at all. Overall, this monitor is nicer than the old HP LP3065 I had before. The colors are very good, and I don't have the color uniformity issues that I have heard some people talk about. A good, scratch that, A GREAT buy at < 650 dollars.
