30-day subscription software

Until last week, I've always built my own computers. I ordered a Dell last week and am setting it up. Norton Internet Security is preinstalled on this machine, and there's a 30-day subscription for it. I don't want the software, and I definitely don't want to be billed for it after 30 days. Can I simply uninstall the software and forget about it, or do I have to contact Norton and have them not bill me?

I'm sorry if this question is a bit trite, but I've just never had to deal with it in the past.

Yes, but do checkout the norton removal tool after you uninstall it from add/remove programs (as that sometimes does not remove everything):

Have you given Norton your credit card # and purchased? If not, they will not bill you. Most computer makers ship the trial versions of various antivirus software with their systems.

If you are looking for a replacement antivirus, might I suggest Kaspersky? It is FREE after rebate now and it is one of the best (if not the best) AV solutions out there.

unless you have given Symantec a CC number, they cant charge you when it expires. What are they going to do, charge your ip address? hmmmmmmmm..........idea........MUAHAHAHA
