My 3yr old girl (just turned 3 on Feb 2nd)
Do you think she rock climbed pretty high? She was clamoring to climb and insisted she could do it. So I asked the guy and said she was three and he reluctantly agreed. The lady putting the harness on said she couldn't but after I told her the guy agreed she said oh alright. She started crying once she looked down because it occured to her "How in the heck am I gonna get down?" My heart was pumping scared the higher she scaled up because in about 30 seconds she was about 18 feet (wild estimate) high. Not too shabby and everyone was amazed watching. Then on the other end of the spectrum people said a couple about 80 years old rock climbed to the top that day so maybe it's not as hard as it looks. Mostly it's just fear I suppose. Is there a fear factor for little tikes? She's eats little dried fish with the heads and eyeballs, etc.

I accidently hit my 2 and half year old dead center in the face with a snow ball today. He cried for about 3 minutes and then wanted to go back out again. Kids are pretty fearless imo.

LOL! That reminds me of one of my ex's cats. The cat would climb the screen to the window and get it's claws stuck. It would then just hang there on the screen for hours until someone got home and let the cat down. By the time we'd get home from work the cat would have gone from loud crying and meows to just a sad and defeated whimper.

...

Then she'd do it again the next day! :Q
That cat NEVER learned, even after months of that.

i was trying to hit him in the gut, but i missed and took him DOWN!

it could of been worse as he was standing ontop of his 4 foot snow fort that i built for him. I am surprized that he kept his balance... :D

wow, that's amazing. I've rock climbed a few times (both in climbing mills and the treue thing) and let me tell you; it's damn hard. It's not too bad inside on a wall like that, but still pretty tough. Outside, however, is where it gets fun.

I actually work one of those walls (I am a Carny :)), ours is 25ft tall. I would say about 25% of the 3 yr-olds make it to the top (I love little kids trying to climb, it is fun to try to teach them how to do it and tell them what to do, and I love their faces when they make it.) On the other hand about 50% of the little one will start crying when they look down, and I usually have to climb up and have them hold on to me while I go down (my wall has auto-belay cables, so I don't have to hold the other end of the rope :)). Anyways, let her know she did a great job, and let her try again sometime :).

 for all the Carnies out there :D

EDIT: BTW, the best rock climber I have ever had on my wall IMHO was a 8-year-old girl who could climb my hardest side in about 20 seconds (most people can't climb it and it take me about a minute). I kept letting her go for free because I just couldn't believe it (plus her dad had already shelled out about 30 bucks ;))

yeah, usually the walls like that aren't too bad, but I'm still impressed that a 3-year-old can do that.

wow that's amazing. 25% of 3 yr olds make it to the top...it figures from all those kids climbing on top of refrigerators, etc.

Yeah, they usually don't make it up very fast, though. But some of those little kids will never give up (at least not until they look down).
