3 years now since sandy hook.

This kind of gets at my main point regarding all this stuff. I understand completely how and why we hear and talk so much more about things like Sandy Hook vs. all the other causes of death. However at the end of the day Sandy Hook only resulted in 28 deaths, which in the grand scheme of things is really pretty minute, considering around 20k people under the age of 20 die every year.

Good point. How much money do we put into research to stop accidents? I ask you the same question above.

How many rights do we infringe upon, how much do we spend to prevent, and how many lives would be saved?

Look at back up deaths. 210 a year. Now we are going to spend 2.5bn/yr to save 210/yr due to "mandatory" backup cameras. That is 12 million spent per death.

Americans are fucked up in their risk underwriting. Part of that is because this country is so fucking safe that we see risk everywhere. It's like the germaphobes. We are massively sanitary, yet all we can think about is washing our hands constantly and freaking out about germs.

I have this debate with my wife all of the time. She thinks it is too risky to let kids ride bikes on minor roads. She points out that I was with my best friend when he was hit and killed bike riding.

My response? Let them ride.

Who cares? Does CDC stand for Constitution Discussion Control?

No.

It means Centers for Disease Control. Are bullets a disease?

No.

Fucking study diseases.

Do you think the federal government should create a new agency to study gun violence or would it be better to use existing infrastructure.

this is cdc mission statement:

CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.
CDC increases the health security of our nation. As the nation’s health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health threats. To accomplish our mission, CDC conducts critical science and provides health information that protects our nation against expensive and dangerous health threats, and responds when these arise.

So automobile safety is not a priority to you. Will there come a point where back up cameras wont cost 2.5 billion a year?

What is there to study?

We have guns, people die, most of them are suicides Most of the rest are gang members. Much of the rest is domestic disputes, murder/suicide...etc

We have what, 6,000 deaths/yr due to anything but suicide/gangs, and now we're going to launch a government organization to study them?

Fuck that. Study Chicago, then report back.

I'll even help you.

No, perpetual regulation of every single thing to every single person in every single scenario every single minute of every single day of every single year is not important to me.

Just because you have a fucked up risk underwriting model in your brain doesn't mean society should suffer.

That and your bitch /emo "THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!" /emo bullshit doesn't get you anywhere.

Well by your retarded fucking logic, the NRA stands for national riffle association, what business does it have stopping the government from putting restrictions on non rifles?

Are you angry right now?

No, by your retarded fucking logic we should bend over to whiny bitchy libtards who want to regulate everything and have government everywhere.

Lol, no you stupid fuck, I as well as others would like the issue studied precisely so everything isn't needlessly regulated.

So you would be ok with scientists studying gun related homicides in chicago? Why not other parts of the country?

Do you know what is an even scarier statistic then Chicago homicide deaths? Self inflicted gun injuries both suicide and accidental are higher then all homicides in this country. Do you know the highest % of those are white males? Did you know that the NRA lobbies to block funding to research this and maybe find ways to make guns safer for their users? Kind of crazy isnt it?

LK is so smart he knows the answers already. The world is a black and white spread sheet with numbers and % and there is nothing more to it. Its a comfortable place to be.

Then study why people are killing themselves if mental health falls under the CDC.

We don't need them studying guns otherwise.

There is no research needed. We know the statistics. We know what % of gun deaths relate to what. Only a fucking moron needs it studied.

No, I am so smart because I can underwrite risk and understand statistics. Your fucking stupid and whiny bitch emo addled brain can't wrap itself around logic, can it?

Nothing needs to be regulated. We know what causes gun death, bullets. We know who shoots, suicides, gang members, or criminals. The rest of the deaths are small, statistically speaking.

What, exactly, is going to be studied?
