3 weeks + 9 holidays + 3 floating holidays a year

I started here 2 yrs ago straight out of college. Looking back, I'm now able to benchmark my company against others in S&P500.

Is that good? Techinically it's 2 weeks of vacation + 1 week of sick but they consolidated it so you can just take 3 weeks as a vacation. You just have to be careful to save some in case you do get sick.

I can carryover 40 hours (5 days) of vacation each year. Floating holidays are however, use-it-or-lose-it by each year.

 
That's about normal. The only thing that might differ with another company is the vacation days. A lot of companies give you 3 weeks (excluding sick days) starting your second/third year. Luckily for me, the last two companies that I worked for gave me 3 weeks starting the first full year that I work. The previous company though gave 3 weeks after the 5th year.

The company I work for gives 6 holidays, 2 floating holidays, 6 sick days per year for all employees.
Vacation depends on how many years of service you have.

New people start with 1 week, then you get 2 after 1 or 2 years, then after 5 years you get 3. After 15 years you get 4, and then you top off at 5 weeks after 25 years of service. I'll be getting my 4 weeks in about 4 more years ....
 
That's close to what I started with. 3 weeks vacation and 12 personal choice (personal choice include up to 8 designated site holidays like christmas and labor day) and we can be sick as many times as we like as long as it's not more than 50% over a one year period.
 
I get 20 days vacation, 13 days sick, and 13 days paid holiday. 4 more years, and my vacation days go up to 26/year. 😀

Here at my place, its consolidated into PTO (paid time off) 160 hrs per year for base level up to 240 hours a year for higher level employees. Maximum of 80 hour carryover every year end.

7 holidays and 2 floaters with some other random things like when christmas/new years falls on a tuesday, we also get monday off. So I guess this year was 9 holidays and 2 floaters.
 
Not bad. Typical at most major companies (at least at Fortune 500 companies I worked). We can carry over sick leave with no limit. Vacation will have to be used if you have over 200 hours. I never know any places that you can carry over holidays/floats <use it or lose it>.
 
I get 8 hours of PTO per month, and all of it carries over. Why would a company delete ANY percentage of PTO just because it's December 31st?

sick days accrue infinitely.
vacation days accrue to a max of 240 hours, until i reach 5 years of service, and then it gets bumped up to 18 days of vacation/288 hours max.

needless to say, i do not work for a private institution.
 
120 hours vacation
115 hours sick
95 hours floating
37.5 family leave

all other special circumstances doesn't count against these totals (wedding, grieving, etc.)

Accounting.

For an extreme example, lets say you started at 10/hr and didn't take any vacation ever. Then 20 years later, you have been promoted a bunch, and now make 50/hr. If you decide to use all your vacation, which is now 1 year, you get paid at your current salary, and not the salary the for the year in which the vacation accumulated, so it costs the company a lot more.

Unfortunately I get nothing else, and only major holidays off. I can also carry over 80 hours each year.
