Its all on the line for Bob Bennett, the long term GOP Senator from Utah. Utah primary laws are described as quirky, but Bennett ran against 7 other GOP rivals and came in third place.
And now is trying to crawl into second place through the back door. Allowing him a tiny chance to get in a two man runoff primary in June. Failing that, this Saturday will see him fail to win the GOP nomination.
Bob's sin, he was too liberal in a super conservative State, and in the name of party purity he becomes expendable.

Off course the GOP danger, if it fields candidates too far to the right, is that the GOP may find itself too far right to be electable in many states. And like the groundhog, it is not hard to predict 24 months more of gridlock.
