3 seperate issues

Heya folks, have 3 issues here, but not all for me, thought I'd condense them into a single post though.

1. For me: I've recently (read last couple days) been experiencing an issue with my graphics card. It's nothing performance degrading, bit what I've seen amounts to static in areas, and with various Programs (borderlands 2, steam, WoW so far) It's isolated to random areas and almost not even noticeable.

Current specs: (that I can think of off top of my head, at work)
i5-3570k
Asrock extreme4
G.skill ares 8gb 2x4 1600
Sapphire vapor-x 7950

The CPU is oc'ced to 4.2, at no higher than 55c during load, using as rocks utility, and the GPU oc'ed to I think 1140mhz at 40c using afterburner.

2. For a co-worker. She has a Asus k52j laptop she uses for school. She says she had a small black spot appear on the screen, like stuck pixels. She researched it and tried to gently rub them to fix it, but that just made it worse, the spot grew bigger.

3. For my dad. He has some hi-8 tapes he'd like to transfer to his comp, and not sure what to buy that'll give great quality on the transfer.

Any help on any of these is greatly appreciated! Thanks

1. I dropped it down to 1000 MHz, see if it returns.
2. do you mean she shouldn't have?
3. thanks for the link! exactly what we're looking for. 🙂

Rubbing can fix stuck pixels. Your friend had dead pixels not stuck pixels. It's different. Stuck pixels are still giving off light but the color doesn't change. Don't rub anymore.

ok, i'll let her know, thanks

for issue 1 (video card artifacts): I turned down the GPU to 1000 MHz and as i type this, not playing games, i see lines of static.

I ran GPU-z during my last game session last night and got 46c as my highest temp, so definitely not high temps. OCCT seem to back up those results too.

Is there another test I can do for this? or should I start concidering an RMA? It's not overly bothersome, just some likes or in darker colored areas, but once you notice it, it's hard to un-notice it.

Heya, sorry, meant to update, but yea I feel a bit foolish. The cable into the monitor was loose :/ so far no issues, I'll restore my oc tonight and see what happens.
