Your post made me curious. Looks like the NRA is rather active Canada: http://www.americasquarterly.org/content/nras-hemispheric-reach

Fern

"Although some of its income comes from membership dues (the organization claims to have 4.5 million members), a significant portion of NRA revenue comes directly from the firearms industry, which contributes to the group in a variety of ways. The NRA’s Ring of Fire Corporate Partners Program has tiered incentives for business donors and has provided an estimated $20 million to $52 million in funding between 2005 and 2010. Industry advertising in NRA publications is another significant source of revenue, representing $20.9 million in 2010."

Notice how the article neglects to mention exactly how much the NRA raises in annual membership dues, despite the number being listed as a line item on IRS Form 990. And yet it provides numbers for every other source of revenue, including ones that are estimates.

In fact, membership dues are by far the NRA's largest single source of revenue at over $100 million annually. Classifying $100 million as "some of its income" but $20 million in advertising (plus $52 million spread over six years) as "a significant portion of revenue" is extremely dishonest. I didn't bother to read any further, and strongly advise against trusting anything in that article. The author is either a liar or grossly incompetent.

[Edit: And I just noticed the article also quotes the thoroughly debunked "90% of Mexican crime guns come from the US" nonsense. Yeah, it's basically just propaganda.]

Even if Canada had the same laws as the U.S. I think Canada would still have significantly less gun related crime.

But since Canada does have such strict laws, how did he obtain the guns?

I would really like to know this too. It could be possible that people who want to hurt others do not follow laws...

Condolences to everyone invloved.

As far as I know, they're really not that strict. There are certain firearms that are restricted or banned, but beyond that it's just a matter of taking a safety class and getting a firearm license. The process doesn't seem particularly onerous.

But I'm not Canadian, so that's all second-hand information.

Rambo didn't get very far. Do everyone a favor and dispose of him.

You guys think it wrong that I hold no value in the life of this murderer?

The legal process will do what the legal process does. What you, or I, or anyone else thinks about it all is pretty much meaningless at this point.
