Never have been, never will be. You have the lowest album selling @ 3.0 certified RIAA and your best album at 18x(Not many bands do that... wow) Probably 30x by the end of the decade, then we'll talk

Oasis has NEVER been overrated, their music is praised and criticized on a MUCH higher level. If you realize that Heathen Chemistry and Standing on theShoulders of the Giants, both good albums(NOT GREAT)< they were rated BELOW PAR and even bashed.

No one in America knows who Oasis is and never willb ecause of your EXACT idiocy "BLoated egos". You grow up poor with no dad and we'll talk about who's overrated champ. Then make 2 albums, the 2ndof which you achieve peaks not many bands will in their career.

Oasis is still managing to sell out tours in AMerica (MSG Earlier this year, anyone?), so stfu, because I take it personal. I admire them from where they came for and their ability tomake their OWN Music and do covers that are usually even better than the original song, b-sides that are a-sides for your favorite band, My chemical romance, NOOB

YAY IT'S AN OASIS FANBOI!

Oasis fanboy?
How about, like I said earlier, You grow up poor as hell and become one of the most succesful musicians of the past 30 years?
They are SKILLED. They are insanely talented? How many times have people drawn Liams voice when it was good(Coming back now thanks to a trainer) to lennon's rasp?
How many times have they called Noel's writing the brainchild of Oasis success with his inate ability to write songs that are SO CATCHY with riffs that match it? NONE.
You listen to Wonderwall's riff and you see the power of music. Themesong of the 90's? Probably a close 2nd to bittersweet symphony or tied for first.

I'm not an Oasis fanboy, I'mjust sick of us North Americans shafting a band that's completely dominated the worldand yet we pull wool over our eyes and earplugs in our ears because they are what Rock and ROll is allabout, and MTV refuses to air it.

I am not an Oasis fanboy, I admire Noel Gallagher, yes I am a fanboy of him I will not deny it. Liam always has been a shaky frontman, but it's never been about Liam, he's there for attitude and voice, the real frontman is Noel who is what a real leader is, a guy who watches but does not hog the spotlight.

You tell me one way in which Oasis has not accomplished success? They solidified their spot in Rock and ROll next to the Beatles, they did that with their first 3 albums, not to mention the 3rd becoming the quickest selling album in the first week. Coldplay's X and Y couldn't even TOUCH that with the UK And US hype going on with it, Oasis just had UK, why? Because us NORTH AMERICAN's don't want to admit that the people overseas have better music than us.

Fanboy? I think not, more like I give the guys merit where they deserve it. They have every right to be cocky, at a pretty young at (39 and 33) they've done it all. They're gearing up for next year's album which will probably REPEAT morning Glory's success witha ll the high reviews this past one got. Why did this one get highly reviewed? AGAIN because Oasis doesn't change their Guitar-Rock for anyone, and theybrought 60'S ROCK! 60's rock back! They brought heavy rock back with Definately Maybe and then Emotionally charged ballads in Morning Glory!

They bring back a different style of Rock and ROll that other bands cannot emulate, you cannot compare Oasis commercially and musically to many bands, and the only ones I do consider comparison with them are:
Rolling Stones
U2(Achtung/Joshua/War)
The Who
Stone Roses
Sex Pistols

THATS It. And not even THEY accomplished the success Oasis had IN THEIR span of records. Sure Beatles are known worldwide, they were huge in 1960, just like Oasis was up to the end of the 90's

There is NO Doubt in my mind that these records will continually sell amazing amounts, and Morning Glory RECHARTED on the billboard 100 it was selling that well just ONE YEAR AGO!

They have done it all, and I love their music and their passion for the MUSIC, they play extra half hour sets for their fans you know why? Because we appreciate what they've done and we've never abandoned them like atypical american who switches from Franz to White stripes to My Chemical Romance. It's bullshit.

No way, Black Sabbath are gods... they created heavy metal.

Pink Floyd?!?!?! You can't be serious.... Roger Waters is one of the greatest song writers of all time.

Greatful Dead.... I'll give you that, only because I can't stand them. But there are many that worship them.... go figure.

My list:

1) REM
2) Live
3) Snoop Dog (every album after Doggystyle blew)
4) 50 Cent (pop trash) & anything related

How did I forget REM? I'll put them in a tie for 3rd with 311... :)
No, you can thank Iron Butterfly for that.

Nah, Iron Butterfly is not quite heavy metal. Can you say... ACID ROCK?

Ya, um, so they revolutionized or something along those lines music. Um, "Smells like teen spirit" is da best song evar. Bull. So tired of every music 'best songs/album/band" putting them at number 1. Smshing Pumpkins and Radiohead were way better than them around the same time.

Rap is no more dumb then any other type of music. A lot of "pop" rap is not so good in my opinion, but that doesn't mean its not difficult or doesn't have value. Go listen to some Lauren Hill, Mos Def, Dead Prez, and early Ice Cube and tell me that Rap isn't an art form in and of itself. If you take Ice Cube's early work (Once upon a time in the Projects; It was a good day; Dead Homiez) in context it is freakin unbeleivable.

And for the people who think DMB is overrated, are you guys freakin nuts? Every musician in that band is incredibly talented. Dave = great guitarist; Carter = one of the best drummers on Earth both technically and musically; Leroi and Boyd? How many other bands have a saxophonist and a violinist that do solo's and tear it up like they do? Moreover, I don't think there is a band around that mixes completely different genres and styles of music together like they do (anyone else know a band that had an entire album that was a mixture of Indie, Indian, African, and Rock?). You may not like them, but their music is fun and incredibly complex. Just my 2c

WHat do you expect, he also worships John Mayer, a trait you usually find in DMB fanbois and frat bro's

I would have to list mine as:

1. The Doors - became cult-like b/c of Morrison
2. Lynard Skynard - Still trying to figure this one out
3. Quiet Riot - took one song and Randy Rhoads reputation farther than they should have been allowed to.

Beatles may be actually underrated. Not only for their own musical and song writing abilities, but also for the influence that they had on so many other bands and other genres of music.

I don't worship either DMB or John Mayer. I just recognize that they are insanely talented. For the record, I was never in a social fraternity (I was in a couple different proffesional societies in undergrad) and I saw Dave Matthews when he was basically nothing except a guy who used to play coffee shops in downtown Charlottesville with no backup...and even back then it was plain that he was extremely talented. Am I saying DMB is "Wyld Stallions!" or the best band on Earth? No. But is DMB comprised of a collection of some amazing musicians who produce truely unique music? Absolutely.

A lot of people in here are basing their opinion on the fact that they simply "don't like" someone's music. Thats like saying Bela Fleck sucks because he plays the Banjo instead of an electric guitar, even though he is probably one of the best Banjo players in the world. Another example would be to say that Wynton Marsalis is overrated, when he is one of a handful of people who can circular breathe while playing the trumpet. In my opinion, all opinions that fail to even acknowledge the raw talent that is present in some of these bands isn't worth a grain of salt.
