Red Cross hospital spokesperson Diana Ross said on Friday paediatric surgeons were looking after the baby.

"They will carry out tests and do an assessment before making further plans for surgery," Ross said.

She was unable to say when an operation was likely to be perfomed to rectify the defects.

In light of the lack of the anus situation, they could have chosen a better word than rectify.
