"Internet Access to Iran Severed
Experts fear a Super Bowl attack"

let's hope this conspiracy theory remains theoretical.

how often do submarine trunk lines, or whatever they're called,
get severed, by happenstance, dragging boat anchors, etc. ?
what is the usual technical cause for this kind of line break ?

There is no direct line linking Internet access to Iran only.

If the line is cut numerous countries are going to feel the pain.

I tend to believe this. I hope you're right.

I will have to research the question before even starting to form a guess. But I do point out that India very recently also suffered the same same as some major underseas cable lines were cut. Which can happen if underseas earthquakes trigger under sea landslides where river borne sediments settle out just short of plunging into deep Ocean basins is a one possible guess that springs to mind.

Just one possible guess based on no evidence.

Let us all hope its not some GWB monkey business and has a natural cause.

I also see no evidence a loss of internet access would paralyze the Iranian military but its a subject I have never even contemplated.

And if you read all the info, it affected much of the middle east as well as Asia. There is no single copper line to Iraq. It traverses the Atlantic via 4TB fiber bundles. Iraq certainly doesnt use 4TB.

If this was deliberate, the question becomes what information is being suppressed. Info from the affected countries or info to them? I don't believe this would have any military implications, but finance comes to my mind. Is this a purposeful effort to interrupt financial transactions of some sort?

Iran is about to open an oil bourse, where the
oil is traded in currencies other than the US
dollar. (oil has been traded in $$ the last 40+
years.)

Israeli citizens have very recently been advised
to get their bunkers ready, i.e. to prepare for
massive missile strikes.

Not this again.

Oil is already traded in other currencies that does not include the dollar. As a matter of fact Iran rarely accepts dollars in payment for oil. However, Iran still denominates the value of its oil in US dollars and even if that does change anytime soon it's going to have zero impact on anything except to have a very small effect on the currency exchange market.

They have been planning this since 2002. Remember that was one of the reasons we invaded Iraq according to the conspiracy theory nuts. We wanted to send a msg to Iran blah blah blah.
