As of 3/1, residents of midwestern states can get their free credit report at Annualcreditreport.com.

AnnualCreditReport.com processes requests for free credit file disclosures (commonly called credit reports). Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) consumers can request and obtain a free credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies. AnnualCreditReport.com provides consumers with the secure means to do so.

Midwestern states eligible:

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
North Dakota
Ohio
South Dakota
Wisconsin

Southern States: 6/1/05
Eastern states and all US territories: 9/1/05

/edit: link fixed

Their servers are getting hammered right now. My sessions keep timing out when actually getting the reports.

Thanks for reminding me about this!

Does anyone know if you can spread the 3 out so you can check your credit rating 3 times a year - 1 from each bureau?

Or you could call them and request your annual free credit report, which they have to send you free of charge. Be sure to tell them you want to opt out of mailing lists while you are on the phone with them.

Equifax: 1-800-685-1111
Experian: 1-888-397-3742
Transunion: 1-800-888-4213

Thanks very much for the link. I got the full report from Experian in a flash, but Transunion keep timing out!

Yes you can do that, you can get either of them any time you want.

Same here. TransUnion keeps bailing on me when I pick my username/password

That was the only one I couldn't do because of it hanging at the same spot.

TransUnion gave me my report but I don't think they registered that it was provided. Odd stuff. I think I can get it again. Not that I'll need it again for another year!

By the way, the CutePDF freeware is very nice to print these reports to PDF files. The last one took a while until I find the print link on the left hand side which provided the full report in one page.

Also works for Western States - like CA, WA

Yeah, the western states have been eligible since the end of 2004. TransUnion was not working at all while I was checking it, and Equifax said they couldn't do it online ATM. So it seems I get to spread out my requests afterall... :]

great tip.

/except it doesn't look free anymore.
CutePDF = pay
CutePDF Writer = Free

Acts like a system printer, just like Adobe's

Only bothered to do the Experian report. Knew how it would come out, but it's nice to have it confirmed 😉
