3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter

Hey everybody, I'm looking for an 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter for a set of sennheiser ear buds I have. In other words, my earbuds are 2.5mm and I want to plug them into my ipod(3.5mm). I searched google but it seems most people and stores are very confused as to what 3.5 to 2.5 means. The few adapters I did find were not stereo, and pointless. Besides making them myself, does anyone know of any? Sorry, I know this probably gets asked a lot but searching is tough as many sites interchange the sizes.

Thanks so much!

No problem, wasn't sure if the one I linked was correct because the description wasn't real good.

Uggg. I got the converter and it didn't work right. I am getting mono sound. However after doing my reasearch, I found out that 3 bands on the 2.5mm jack means mono? So should I then be looking for a mono converter?

3 bands on the connector means stereo: right, left and ground

can you link what you bought?

Ahh sorry, I've been busy. But to answer your questions: The ear buds are Sennheiser MM50's. It says 2.5mm 4 pole stereo headphones. I bought: http://www.monoprice.com/produ...1&format=2#description

I don't know why this is so complicated, according to the box they are stereo, so why doesn't the adapter work?
Because it is the wrong adapter 😉 You don't want stereo to stereo, you want- 2.5mm 4-pole plug to 3.5mm stereo jack like this one or this one

You can probably find a better price on either type if you hunt around, I just pulled the first hits for reference.

Thanks, but I really need it the opposite way. I actually already have one of these so I can send music from my phone to my car/speakers. i'll take a look around again, but if anyone knows of one off the top of their head, let me know. Otherwise i'll just buy a pair of sennheiser's with a 3.5mm plug. Seems most phones are switching to that anyway.
