Although, if you are installing DADRW...firewire is a lot stable....

saw that all too late... emailed them to cancel my order... from the looks of it, i might be jumping through some hoops just to do that.

are these daisy-chainable (is that a word?)?

all firewire devices are daisy chainable upto some # of devices (you can see 2 firewire ports in the back). usb does not have this support.

i purchased my usb2.0 card from 4linkcomm. it came quickly (probably because i'm in the same state) and it was working. didn't deal w/ csr or anything.

$30 for a usb2/firewire enclosure is a really good price. however, this is the bigger version (fits 5.25" drives) making it less portable.

Too bad USB 2 & FW are so slow. Although this looks like a OK deal, their raiting is bad enough to pass on it.

We need eSATA & xSATA enclosers, then we can finally have some decent speed for our external HDs.

I ordered this enclosure from these guys just before Christmas and they sent me a box with a used and leaking HP toner cartridge. WTF! They did however make it right and sent me a postage paid return form and the enclosure a couple of weeks later. The enclosure worked OK using firewire and USB with an 8X NEC DVD-RW. It did not like my Benq 16X DVD-RW. I gave it and the 8X NEC away as a Christmas gift.

they ended up telling me that there's $3 cancellation charge. amazing... granted, the $3 charge IS stated in their terms.

however, i did get the drive today, and it works fine. looks like i may have lucked out.

Did you put a HD in it or a DVD-RW? I am looking to put in a benq dw1620, I know one person already said it didn't work but what about other people?

From a review on Resellers Ratings:
Ordered an external enclosure on Saturday. Didn't get order confirmation until Monday. So I emailed them on Sunday to cancel the order, because of their low resellerratings. They emailed me back on Monday, saying that my order had been processed, and cancellation which incur a $3 fee. I decided to take my chances. On Thursdsay, I got the drive.
And:
I returned a hard drive enclosure, at my own expense, on Sept 20, 2004 because it was DOA. One would expect a reputable merchant to fix the defective merchandise, replace it, or refund the money. It is now Dec 4, 2004 and I have not heard from these people except once on Nov 8 when I threatened to write a negative feedback. They claimed they sent the merchandise on Oct 28 but apparently FedEx lost it and they are sending a replacement. When I asked for the tracking number, they never responded.
Yeah, I'd say you are going to have to jump through a few hoops; and then some. Good luck man. Give 'em hell!

Just wondering, overall, what luck everyone is having with this. Been looking to get one of these, was also look at this one, but it is twice as much. Does have better reviews though.

Thanks
