Just wondering if this is a safe goal for OCing, or if It's a bit too high. I'll be using a Thermalright Ultra-120 Heatsink/fan w/ Gigabye DS3 Motherboard.

I don't think it's out of the question. Depends on your memory more than anything else, I think.

It's a reasonable OC. I keep mine at 3.1ghz, because the temps get too high for my taste at 3.2ghz, since I need 1.45v to stay stable at 3.2ghz, but only 1.4v for 3.1ghz. Max orthos temp of 55c at 3.1ghz, I hit 60c at 3.2. I'm using a scythe ninja, so the ultra 120 might do a tiny bit better.

I have 3.2ghz now with little effort and i believe it is a combination of ram compatability and motherboard for the limited OC....I can boot as high as 3.5ghz but cannot get stability....eventhough the fsb is lower then the 8x400 I am using now....

I have a week 29 running @ 3.735 9X415 with 1.55V on AIR using a Thermalright Ultra 120

It idles @ 50-55c and in the low 60's under load!

Anything under 60c is safe.

If you run orthos and prime 95 for hours and it goes in the 70s, that's a different story.

Me, I couldn't care less about Orthos and the like. The load I put on my CPU during gaming and minor encoding never takes it above 60-65c

I have ninja scythe....It idles at 39-40c at 3.5ghz w/ 1.55v but loads in the mid 60's....with dual prime and low 50's with dual F@H

orion 23 that idel to load delta seems low.....

That's load during Winrar stuff and regular gaming.

I'm sure orthos or TAT would take me into the 70s
