Is gas really that expensive? Let's say it goes from $2.00 - $3.50 a gallon. Lets say you have a 15 gallon gas tank. Lets say you fill up twice a month. That's an extra 44 dollars a month. That's a huge increase in gas price, but really, is it that huge of a dent in your budget? I mean 44 dollars isn't that much anymore, especially considering how much $5.00 coffees and $10.00 meals and movie tickets we buy. And above is a pretty generous estimate.

I am glad that you can. I can not.

You can't move closer to work?

You can't carpool?

You can't ride a motorcycle, or buy a more fuel-efficient car?

Or, more likely, you'd prefer to continue doing as you always do, and complain about the rising prices, than do something about it.

The only plausible option out of those you listed is carpool. Other two are just plainly dumb in financial sense.

You can't move closer to work? no, kids in school and they have their friends and we like our small town life

You can't carpool? No, we live the small town country life and doing IT i do not get off at 5pm everyday and nobody lives out my way

You can't ride a motorcycle, or buy a more fuel-efficient car? i could buy a motorcycle but they scare me, everyone that i know who has or had one has been hurt. i drive a camry and get 28mpg daily

Or, more likely, you'd prefer to continue doing as you always do, and complain about the rising prices, than do something about it.

I see you live in Seattle. what are you going to do about the high cost of gas when your city raises taxes to pay for gas used in the cities vehicle fleet, like cops, fire, city services...

You can't move closer to work? Do you have children? Do you know how disruptive it is to yank your kids away from their school & friends?

You can't carpool? How many people in todays world do you know that actually get to work a job that they actually leave on time? Or on time enough to share a ride w/ someone?

You can't ride a motorcycle, or buy a more fuel-efficient car? Please, find me a fuel efficient vehicle that fits a wheel chair. I've been looking, trust me.

Or, more likely, you'd prefer to continue doing as you always do, and complain about the rising prices, than do something about it.
I've seen a number of people say "do something about it", wtf are we supposed to do besides bend over and hand Exxon the vaseline so it doesn't hurt so bad? I'm already using solar and wind power harvesting devices in my house, I have a geo-thermal heating/cooling system and I even run bio-diesel in my tractor. What are you doing to help conserve energy? Do something, I'd like to do something, I'd like to beat W over the head a million times w/ a "smart stick" and see if I could knock some sense into him. But I know even that would accomplish nothing, he's just too much of an idiot.

I think he means he lacks the ability and training wheels are embarrassing

Are you the CEO of Exxon?

So you blame it all on Exxon and GWB? Classic

If you can only afford go to the movies or eat out only once a month, $44 means you don't get to do it that month.

I don't know if blame is the right word, I can understand when the hurricanes hit and the production centers had problems, but why are prices still rising when Exxon etc. is posting BILLIONS in net profits. Not sales, but net profits. That simply makes no sense.

i would love prices like yours but that aint going to happen

and for those who say move closer? what 100 mile round trip means move to a ****** hole i dont think so. 100 mile round trip = 1.30 hours total

to use public transport would cost me £600 per month driving = £200 you do the maths.

and before you say it NO the grass aint greener over here we just pay more for stuff you take for granted

$9? try more like $7

93 pence is $1.85USD 3.8 litres is 1 US gallon.

1.85*3.8=7.03

I don't know and that's why I'm asking, I know European fuel prices are crazy, but isn't a lot of the price based on different taxes and fees?

Who else is at fault?

What has Exxon done? They make money but their profits are in line with, and in many cases less than, most other companies (the big $ numbers just scare people). Also, Congress has the ability to give a little relief to the people but what are they doing? Passing non-binding resolutions. It's time to find a new angle just cause you had to sell your boat. The difference in prices now and 2 years ago is about 1 meal at a nice restaurant per month.

Damn, I took the troll bait.

Profit dollars not %. They are a big company so the dollars are bigger than most. Again, don't let the big numbers scare you.

If this is the case, you should really be focusing harder on not sucking at life.

Well, it use to not suck but now that I can't go the movies once month, I must drown myself in the river

If you can't afford a jump from $2 to $3 in gas prices then you might be living beyond your means. Yes, gas prices suck, but most Americans can't ride a bike to work. Some of you need to get out into the real world. We've got woods and ditches and everything!

I live in the real world...and I ride a bike to work. 😕

Traffic was all jacked up around here this morning too. It was great passing all those cagers stacked up for miles as I rode in.

My ride...It's sitting right here next to my desk as I type this. 😛
