Ok, goig from my current AMD xp2100 @ 2.3 (211fsb) to a sl6wk P4 3.0 + the abit board and will use my pc3200 twinmos winbond.
Anyone have a similar setup? I believe the 3.0c is locked at 15 on the multiplier,so I will have to play with FSB. I am hoping to squeeze out 220 on my ram, but was never able to with my AMD setup (altho didn't play with dropping the multi enough).
Any opinions? I plan on using my current SLK-800 + TT smartfan 80mm.
Will be happy to get 3.5ghz out of this setup, altho I realize eventually I may have to step up to faster ram. I will basically be swapping out my NF2 board and AMD chip and replacing with the P4 setup, so you can see rest of stuff in my sig for the bigdawg rig.
Been an AMD man for a while as far as my Oc;ing goes, so any advice on this P4 setup is much appreciated.

Is their a performance hit running Asynch like with the AMD XP processors?
I guess if I could run @ 215 and 5:4 I would look pretty good.

the intel chipsets actually perform A LOT better than the nforce ones at async.

also, what board did you have before? usually, it's the board that is the limiting factor in fsb overclock for amd boards...

on the ic7, you should have no problem pushing that thing upwards to 280 / 290 even 300 fsb with teh right chip.... you probably won't hit that high cuz you'll be limited by your chip at that point...

Hoping to hit 220 @ 5:4 with a 15x multiplier (locked on the P4 I believe I will be @ ??? MHZ on the chip?

yeah you should be able to get that memory to run at 215-235 with tite timings
2.8v (2.78-2.82 actual) is what i use on my bh-5 chips
when i set the voltage any higher it does appear to be less accurate
2
it would be nice to have 3v or something but i think the max3 has some kinda issues with the vdimm not being stable enough when you set higher

good luck

My new 3.0C runs 24/7 at 250fsb with memory at 5:4 2-2-2-5
It boots fine to windows at 265, but no benches... :/

if it wont even bench.... why run it there? not too smart in my opinion. whats the use in having a pc that doesnt function after you overclock it. hell i ran mine at 240 fsb but it didnt like it so i backed it down.... back it down until its stable man or you are just wasting your money man...

Sorry, but don't know to which users your replying to...
In a public forum with many reply's to someone, you can always quote someone to let him know that youre talking to him especially...

Don't know if it was to me, but if it was, please read my previous post better.

Cheers,

Thanks. I just tested my 3.0C's overclocking ability some more and I have it running now at 240 fsb with 1.6 vcore. I might just lower it back to 225 fsb at stock voltage since my idle temp has increased.

Ok, got her set up (ecept for Zalman which is on the way).

Right now @ 220 FSB 5-2-2-2 x15 1:1= 3.3GHz. Primed for few hrs.
Can someone explain the 5;4 thing to me and say what would my chip and ram be @ 250 5:4?
Thanks.

5:4 (FSB:RAM) - e.g. 250FSB = 200Mhz Ram.

3.0C user ere @ 3.66ghz with (5:4 splitter) 245FSB:195DRAM @ 1.52V prime tested and cooled by a Zalman 7000A-CU. KHX 3500 @ 2,3,2,6 - 2.6V. Can push the 3.75ghz mark @ 1.55V but that's benchmark territory, definatly not stable for 24/7 use, unless of course you got a great chip which can do those speeds on air and stable for 24/7 use. I'd kill for one of those. If you want the chip to last a while, probably better to stay below 1.55V.

Just upped it to 250 @ 5:4. Gonna prime it for a while. Nice clean 3.75 GHZ. with stock cooler right now (zalman is on the way).
I have a decent chip. sl6wk 30 cap :)
My voltages are 1.56 and 2.8.

EDIT***
Ah, 250 no good, failed primeafter 2mn. Droped down to 240 @ 3.6 and all seems ok so far with Prime 95

sounds about right...

wouldn't it great if we could just run it @ 3.75? the watercooling i'm consdering might be able to pull that one off. then again... you never know until you try.

Soulkeeper - Why are you running 5:4 with that memory - you should be able to run 1:1 at 222fsb at 2.8V easy...

Sounds like a good chip. the zalman will definitely be a step up from the stock heatsink. at those fsb speeds getting rid of the heat is the key to higher clock. check my sig to see what would be possible by going to watercooling. ;)

Very nice. Don't want to spend the $$$ on watercooling.I am fairly happy (for now of course) @ 3.67GHZ. I probably need to bump the vcore up a bit to be stable @ 3.75.
Damn fine overclock u got there. What is your VCORE?
