I just installed two sticks of 512 PC-3200, and they show as 896MB in the System profile. It's my bro's Emachine computer (I know, don't make fun of him).

His previous 2x256 sticks showed as 384. What can I do to make it show as 1024? Also, it's an ATI Xpress mobo.

Some Machines actually use part of your RAM for the Video RAM. My wifes old Compaq did this too.

You can adjust how much is used for Video in BIOS.

Yeah, Wanderer is right, IG (integrated graphics) uses your system ram. It makes sense that the mobo is an ATI Xpress, since (I think), they all have IG. His comp is using 128Mb for his graphics, which is a fairly decent amount as far as IG goes. :)

Integrated graphics = no thanks.
