It is very hard to find 2x1GB DDR around $200 those days. Fry's has
OCZ PC-4000 Gold series (OCZ5002048ELGEGXT-K) 3-4-3-8, 2.75v sku#4754249
&
Patriot PC-4000 (PDC2G4000ELK) 3-4-4-8, 2.8v sku#4784799
both @ 200. Enjoy it.

Ripped me off on rebate and memory was crap

I wouldn't say their memory is crap, but I did get shafted out of a $50 rebate not too long ago. Ordered from Frys/Outpost, backordered, shipped, and by the time it got to me the rebate expired by one day. The rebate had a 15 day window, the shortest I've seen on any rebate. Needless to say OCZ denied my submission despite my plee. I asked for them (by letter) to return my submission (receipt & upc), so far not a single answer.

Generally speaking I've had good results with rebates, until starting about last Black Friday. Since then, I've had three rebates MIA even after resubmitting them (which IMO is a sham - they do that to buy more time so that you'd forget). Now a fourth one from April to Antec is probably not gonna go through.

Two months ago I got 2x1GB PC-6400 4-5-4-12 OCZ RAM that will run at PC-8000 with bad timings and high voltage for $190 less $60 mail in rebates that came back in exactly 8 weeks without difficulty. For $130 I have 2 GB of RAM that will hit PC-8000 speeds which has made me a very happy OCZ user. I know I got an especially good deal but $200 for PC-4000 is a bad deal regardless of the brand.

From now on I will be submitting reports to the BBB for every failed rebate.

Back to topic, it's a sad state that we're in that $200 for 2gig of memory is considered hot. I can understand the demand for DDR2 but even DD1 have jumped in prices.

The ocz has been a pita ever since i got it. Granted this was the ddr2 gold edition, the heatspreaders have just about come off. Dont even get me started about the MIR's.

I have always had great results with all rebate programs. The only exception being a memory rebate from Tiger Direct.

I have personally sent in 2 OCZ rebates and they have both come back (one did take awhile but it arrived none the less). My friends have also had great experiences with OCZ, between them all they are 5 for 5 with rebates. Also their tech support has been awesome, they responded quickly and efficiently and they helped us locate the problem (which turned out to not be their fault at all). I have also heard of people buying 4 sticks only to find out that their motherboard wont run all 4 modules at full speed, so OCZ allowed them to trade them in for 2 modules with the same total size.

In my personal experience almost every time there has been a problem the error was PEBKAC (myself included in the one time I had to call up OCZ).

I used to always say that, as you will... until you have some bad experiences.

Did you read the other sentence on that line?

I have had a bad experience, I am just saying that I have had no troubles at all with OCZ, nor have any of my friends.

I've had good results with my platinum OCZ DDR kit. I actually got an open box set of this kit:
Newegg Link

I ended up getting it for $160 with a $30 mail-in, so I really can't complain.
