2x EVGA 8800GTS 320MB KO ACS3 or 1 EVGA 8800GTX

People here always recommend single card over SLI. Driver support for SLI is not good last I heard. I'd probably agree with them and say sell the 320 to fund a GTX 😀

Also get a 24"+ monitor if you don't already 😛

Not worth it, IMO. In many angles.

1. ACS3 - unless you value its outfit, normal GTS/GTX will clock just as well and beyond.
2. You can get a 640MB version with the same price of one 320MB ACS3
3. One GTX is superior in just about everything except synthetic benches. And cheaper.

If your monitor does 1920x1200 or higher, get a GTX. If not, get a regular GTS (or GTS 320) and wait till refresh. I think a die-shrink of G80 will be out soon.

already have a 37" 1080P LCD. The card started to slow down in Oblivion when using very large textures so I figured it was time to pick up another.

It's slowing down in oblivion because it's running out of video RAM with large textures. The card is being hamstrung by only having 320MB of RAM. Adding a second card won't help that because the graphics RAM isn't additive when doing SLI or Crossfire.

if i understand you post. you have a 320mb 8800gts. DO NOT GO SLI. the ram is the limiting factor on the 320mb 8800gts not the core speed. get a 640mb 8800gts OR a 8800gtx

correct; looking at the 640mb version of this model.

how well does the 640 from evga over clock? Because the ACS looks pretty...but it's only 30 or so cheaper than the 640.
