2x ASUS GTX 670 Direct CU II will arrive tomorrow. Will they fit in my CM Storm Scout

So I traced my package delivery today, and it seems my cards will arrive tomorrow.

My CM Storm Scout has a max length at 27cm according to Cooler master homepage (Measured it to 27.2 - 27.3cm) for graphics cards. ASUS GTX 670 DC II are listed to be 27.2cm. Started a thread about this issue here

So will they fit? :hmm:

Today helped a friend with a new build. He had bought the Gigabyte GTX 670 Winforce x3. It was listed to be 28.5cm. I measured it, and it turned out to be 27.5cm.

From my investigations I believe the ASUS card to be a little shorter than 27.2cm. I've looked at pictures and videos. So guess I will find out tomorrow.

Also, I think I will test each cards overclockability before I install them in SLI config. I will install the most overclockable card in the upper slot. This way when I run with SLI disabled I can use the most overclockable card for best performance.

Felt I needed to start a thread about this, and a poll. I'm very excited and really looking forward to this weekend :thumbsup:

I have the CM HAF 912 (similar to yours) and the GTX 680 would easily fit. I have it in the Antec 300 case which is a bit smaller and it fits fine. I do notice that though my HAF 912 is less expensive you can remove the upper portion of the 3.5 inch drive bays to accomodate longer video cards. I don't think the CM Storm Scout has that feature.

Interesting, u spent $800+ on video cards, yet u skimped on the case? just get a corsair 400R for $95, incredible case for the money & it caters to enthusiasts, so u wont hafta worry about these things in the future.

No, he didn't skimp on the case and really had no qualms about the cards fitting the case, else he wouldn't have bought the cards with already having the case.

Just my opinion, but the Scout sucks. I owned one for about 3 months before passing it on.

Way way to cramped for ATX for my liking, no room for cable management, etc.

This. That case is just really cramped. I owned one for 2 years, had to modify the HDD cage (removed it, moved it 2CM towards the front, rebolted) to fit my HD 5870.

I used a 9800 GTX+ for PhysX Hybrid and that card literally saddled the PSU on the bottom. Considering the DU II is triple slot, correct?, you might have a super tight squeeze.

I upgraded to the Corsair 500R, day and night difference in temps (with less fans) and way more room to work. You actually get space for wire management.

I agree with the person who said get the 400R. The CM Storm is freaking small!

Just saw in your sig you went white too. Mine was a Christmas gift from the GF, glad she went with the white color. The black and white color scheme, in my opinion, makes it look very elegant.

With the white LED fans it always makes me think of an Audi haha.

The DUII 670s are dual slot. The 680s are triple slot.

Still, having two 180W cards exhausting hot air inside the case is not a good idea imo. I always prefer radial, externally exhausting HSFs for my dual gpu systems, but I guess that one DUII for the top card and a reference for the second card would be ok.

Actually that's why I asked the temperatures earlier, because I had seen a 20C delta from card to card, on a friend's 460 SLI system, while both my 5850 CFX and GTX 570 SLI machine, show 3C delta max.

This is a terrible case for SLI'ing non blower type GPU's.

I fail to see why the CM Storm Scout is so terrible. It has one 140mm intake fan in the front, one 140mm exhaust at the top, one 120mm exhaust at the back, and I've installed one 120mm intake fan in the sidedoor, blowing straight at the two cards. Actually really happy with this case.

You really won't understand how terrible it is until you try something else. Looking at your picture reminds me of just how crap that case is.

Before I got my 500R I'd have said the same thing (since I liked the overall external look of the case), but after working with the 500R I can not look at the CM Scout the same way. When you factor in the handle, the CM Scout isn't that much smaller (in height) than the 500R, but it is a world of difference inside.

But grats on the new cards, kudos they slid in flawlessly!

EDIT: I did the exact same thing with the cables haha. Except I cut the boxing for the Corsair H50 pump I put in, so it said Corsair when you'd take the side panel off haha.

You've done as good of job with Cable management with that Case as I've seen.

All that is left is slapping another fan on that 212

The only thing missing is H20. That will be beautiful with a 360 rad up top with blocks for your 670s.

I really worked on that cable management for my CM Storm Scout a few months ago, and I'm very happy with the result. All the cables are behind the HDD cage and on the right side of the case, so not visible. I even managed to slip the 8-pin CPU power connector behind the motherboard tray and sneak it in a little gap at the top (Where more expensive cases have holes. It is actually possible in the Storm Scout too :thumbsup. If one invest a little time in cable management, this case is a nice one. Not without reason I wanted to keep it. I almost ordered a Corsair Graphite 600T Special White Edition, due to I was in doubt these two cards would fit in the CM Storm Scout. I gambled, and I won :thumbsup:

Here is 3DMark11. Running +80 Turbo boost and + 400 for mem.

Edit: I also, like the CM Storm Scout's size. Pretty, small, yet I have the space for what I need, and looking good. The Graphite 600T is huge in my opinion, and too big for my taste.
