As I mention before I got $600 budget for my new videocard, the 8800gt SLI wasnt an option at all if I´m not going to use higher gaming resolutions, but now I had the chance to buy an used e-GeForce 8800Ultra Superclocked 768MB for $680, buyed originally on september.

I suppose it still has the 90 day Step Up program so do you think is really good deal or is a better bet to wait the new cards comming.

Thanks

Callo

i dont think the step up is transferable... i think you have to be the original owner... im not 100% sure but you should check that out.

Viewsonic 22"? I'm going to say one 8800GT SCC, thats all you need. Pocket the rest and save it for G92 GTX or GX2.

Seen as you already have an 8800 GTS i would wait for the new cards. If you plan to play Crysis, even the ultra will have to work hard to push those pixels.

Agreed. If you already have a GTS an Ultra is a horrible idea. GT's in SLI hould smoke the Ultra esspecially at something like 1680x1050 which IMO isn't actually that high a res. At any rate I would wait for the next revision of the GTX, or GTS as those will be cheaper and faster...

The bad news is that I dont have the 8800GTS 640 anymore 🙁, the good news is that i have sold it for $400 🙂... Damn :....another bad news I only had a GF6200 until I get anything else..I hope wont be a long wait...

I would advise that u wait until the ATI and crysis releases so as to get a better pic of the 'battlefield' and depending on performance and/or price get either the 38xx or 8800GT ( they shld aslo be cheaper by then) as a place holder. Then u can wait until the high end cards come out later to make a long term decision

I would advise waiting. Get one 8800GT now, play your games, make it EVGA so you can do a 90-day Step up. If something better comes out, Step up. If not, get another 8800GT and SLI when they are cheaper.

I have an 8800GT on stock at 730 right now. Boosted fan speed though.

Thats why I said most 🙂. I would get the KO version and be done with it-25mhz on the core isn't a big deal. The bigger deal is the memory-after bios analysis on the SSC, it was found that they (eVGA) are running looser memory timings on the SSC to get higher memory clocks. Anyway, that site is most likely where you will see a 700mhz version available first!
