I just got uverse hooked up last Friday, and I was disappointing to find out that that the wireless has issues.
I can plug in to the router and get <1 ms pings to the router, and a good speed out to the internet.
When I am wireless however, the performance is dismal. I can ping the router itself and get anything from 5ms to 100ms just sitting there. I tried to do a speed test out to the internet to put a load on it, and the pings *to the router* would be 300ms to 2000ms, and the internet speed would be 1/5 of what it is when I am plugged in.
The environment is a neighborhood, and there are 16 other access points in the area. None used the same channel as mine, but obviously there is going to be a lot of interference from those AP's.
So, my question is... am I just stuck with the poor performance because of the environment, or could it be the router that is the problem?
Also, what are some possible solutions? Personally, I wouldn't mind if I just had a regular modem and then I could justify getting a WRT610N.
