This Samsung is just $10 more and has better reviews. The only thing lacking is that it is 5400rpm vs 5900rpm for the Seagate.

Maybe that's why it doesn't self-destruct as quickly. 2TB is a drive best suited to file storage. I don't care if I give up a few hundred RPM, the Samsung looks like a better drive than the Seagate even if it's $10 more.

Limit says two per customer...

But after I completed each order I went back in and was able to order another 2 and order was processed, tpp...

Total I purchased 5... all for work though...

Hope the orders all go through and work...

If you get a first gen drive (1.5TB and 2TB) just pray or have them replaced by Seagate. I wouldn't know how to tell anyone how one can determine if it's gen1/gen2. Sorry.

I have 4 of these but ONLY after having 2 DOA, 2 died shortly after using and Seagate replacing them.

That is so much pain to replace if it was in a some sort of a server.

I have two 2 TB Seagate 5900 rpm drives from Tiger Direct I've been running 24/7 in a raid mirror on my server for about 5 months, nothing in the smart report yet.

At least one of the reviews said that if you have to RMA it they send you a recertified drive. Is that true?

I can say many times over.....YES!!

Buy a new drive. It dies. You pay to ship back. Then you get a reburb.
