2TB drive vs Raptor 74GB

Two questions in one. I want to pick up a 2TB drive that's quiet for storage. Any suggestions? I'll probably get two and put them in Raid 1. Do these new drives outperform my old Raptor 74GB? Is it time to stop using it as my boot drive?

You can use your old Raptor as a boot drive. I don't see a problem with that as you can separate your OS to your Raptor and storage to your 2TB drive. It makes for easier management in case something goes horribly wrong and a clean format is necessary.

A 7200 RPM WD Black drive is probably faster than the 74 raptor. I upgraded from that drive as my OS drive to a 60Gb Agility SSD and wow its crazy fast in comparison.

they most certainly do not outperform in esx lol. but its poop compared to carp compared to decent (SAS 15K 3.5")
