2nd UPDATE: KAAAAAHHHHHHNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so as many of you know from other threads, my Camaro has been having some transmission problems that, as I found out today, are going to be costly. This car has 150,000 miles and other problems as well, so I made the call today that we would not get it fixed, but instead trade it in on something.

Today right after lunch my wife and in-laws decided to go find a car, which they did. I got the phone call a few minutes ago that they were bringing home a __________________*, without asking me for any input.

I'm the one that is (mostly) going to pay for this car, and frankly I am the type that is all for buying good used cars in order to save a buck or two. Conversely, my in-laws always insist that their baby have a brand new vehicle. One time my father-in-law even had balls enough to bring a car home and tell me that it was my new car - case closed. Every freaking time I need a new car, my wife and in-laws go out and do this, and then there is the huge blowup where everyone gets mad at each other for a month. If they were going to buy the car for me with their money, it would be a whole 'nother story. As it is, I'm really pissed off.

It looks like I'm going to have to stiffen my spine tonight, again. Am I being unreasonable???

* I'm too embarrassed to post the car that they picked. To say the least, I'm not happy with it.

UPDATE: The wife "detected some distress" in my voice when I "politely suggested" over the phone that she not bring home the "car". "Wanting to avoid a conflict," she decided to not bring home the "car." She wanted to "consider my feelings" first. We have "mutually agreed" that tomorrow we will look for a vehicle that "suits our best interests".

UPDATE 2: We spent all day Saturday looking at vehicles. We finally decided on a Jeep Liberty - we've said for several years that we would like an SUV. It is a 2004 closeout, so we got a good deal on it. We're as happy as can be - the Great Automobile Crisis of 2004 has been averted.

WooHoo!!! No Grand Am for me!!!

Unreasonable? How the hell are you being unreasonable about how YOU spend YOUR money?
My guess is that your wife, and her family have you firmly chained by the balls.
😉

whats teh car???

and no you are not being unreasonable if you are gonna pay for it then YOU CHOOSE TEH DAMN THING

Heh, sounds like a great set of in-laws.

99.9% of the time they are great people.

A Daewoo, or Kia is the only car that could be worse than a Beetle. Unless they went and purchased a used Marykay cosmetics car that is some horrible girlie color with Marykay stickers in the windows.
