2nd PCI slot doesn't work for NFI ultra-d?

hey guys, i moved my sound card from the first pci slot (closer to the pciE) to the second pci slot because I just installed a zalman cooler. But now, there is no sound when everything's plugged in. So I'm wondering if maybe the 2nd pci slot's disabled or anything?
