I'm running a dell 2007wfp and a 2009wt (2nd) LCDs. the first works fine at it's native 1680 x 1050. the 2nd only wants to work at a max 1440 x900, which is not it's native resolution (1680 is). I've tried installing newer nvidia drivers as well as updating nvidia drivers from the windows update. I've tried adding a custom resolution but that jacked up the screen and I couldn't read anything on it. the only drivers I could find on the dell site were for a 2009w... i'm assuming that's the same as the 'wt'.

What kind of graphics card do you have?
How is the second monitor hooked up?
If you swap their cables, does the second monitor display at the correct res?

I've got a nvidia quadro pci-e NVS 280. the computer is a dell. it came with a 1:2 DVI adapter, so each lcd is connected on the same port via DVI. There really is no cable swapping but I guess I can fiddle with it.

Try swapping the cables, it may be that the 1-2 adapter has a 'primary' and secondary' and then diverts more power to the 'primary'.

Assuming that the port on the GPU can push dual link bandwidth, then you are well within that, even with the 2 monitors.

tried swapping the connections on the adapter. no difference. also downloaded the nvidia drivers from dell's site. I saw no difference in which monitor was primary.

Ok, 2 last things to try before I think you should call dell and see whats up.

1: Have you tried just using the second monitor on its own?
2: Have you tried hooking up the second monitor to another system?

IN both of the those questions, the end is to see if the monitor displayed at the correct res.

Sounds like it's an issue with the 1:2 DVI adapter. Try looking around in your Nvidia Control Panel and see if you can find the options for changing how many monitors you're using. Fiddle around with that and see if it makes any difference.

I've tried #1, not 2. i'm actually doing my IT dept's work right now... I could go rogue and just hook up the LCD to another computer lying around.
