using geforce2 mx400 + tnt2 m64 as a dual monitor setup in windows xp pro

the old 17inch monitor on the tnt2 m64 is really dark, so i changed its brightness in display properties, saved it as a new profile, and clicked the checkbox that says to apply these settings every time windows starts

every time i start, the monitor goes brighter when its starting up, but then goes back to its normal darkness once it hits the desktop

i have to go to display and manually set it to the higher brightness levels every time

any ideas?

using the latest detonator drivers

I imagine you're using Win2k/XP. If so, you'll want to disable the NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, which is the culprit. Disabling it won't cause any problems. To disable it, right click My Computer, choose Manage. Go to Services and Applications and then Services. Scroll down til you see NVIDIA Driver Helper Service and double click it and change it from Automatic to Disabled. No idea why it causes this problem, but it's an easy fix, fortunately. Hope that helps ya. :)

yes, i am using windows XP pro

i tried your solution and it didnt seem to work

My Computer -> Manage -> Services -> Set Nvidia Driver Help Services to Disable... it still won't remember my settings

furthermore... i create a new settings profile, give it a name like 'Default,' click the "Apply these settings every time" checkbox, and then restart

not only are my settings not applied, but the color correction profile i created 'Default' no longer exists

very annoying
