Due to the awesomeness of Stephen to go in to work on the weekend and reset his computer, stats are now up again and we are officially in 2nd place, just beating out the Cows! Congratulations to everyone helping out and major props to Stephen to give up part of his weekend for us stat-whores!

Nice going Stephen!!! a Cold  for you!!!

CONGRATS to TeAm AnandTech DPAD...we do a mean CRUNCH! Enjoy the little time we have left in second place...1st will be ours sooner than we think...😀😉

Holy cow, we're there already? :Q

Shows how much I watch the stats (been busy with a web design project lately, not to mention school and other stuff). 😱

1st is going to be quite a chalange Seti Germany seems to be out producing us.....hopefully everyone can find another system too add to to the crunching to get us is the run to catch them

Either that or they bailed on the project. Knowing the DPC from RC5, I am thinking they are probably in need of a laxative and when they take it, it'll be nasty 🙂

Wow! Congrats TeAm! I had no idea we were even close to 2nd! We just had reached third not to long ago.

Great job!

complete team effort. as for dpc and their dump....i think we got some people with a ton of work in the wings just waiting on a costco size skid of tp for dumpage! 🙂

What are the critical factors in DPAD? In seti it seems that ram throughput/speed and cache are the big things to have. In ecc2 it's just pure computing power. But what does DPAD really crave?

Is FSB a huge factor? Large cache? If the machine isn't big in everything, don't bother? 😛

With ecc2 ending "any day now," I'm kind of browsing othe projects. And since md5crk seems to favor pentium 4s, of which I have none, I'm shying away from it.

I've not seen benchmarks yet (maybe someone else can provide them), but DPAD certainly isn't just for fast machines. There are no WU time limits (unlike F@H), and the "WUs" are small enough that even a slower machine can do something useful (unlike SETI). Of course, that does not take into consideration the power usage and efficiency of the slower machine...

I'm not talking about having my 36mhz computer crunching on it, so that's not really an issue. At the moment only my dual p3 866 would really be able to use the client (through WINE) because of it being "Windows only." Maybe if I setup WINE I'll give it a shot just to see how the dual p3 does.

Hi...

You could have a look at this thread:

I've never seen that happen. The original link I quoted worked fine for me, but didn't turn out so well when I quoted it.

EDIT: Might have needed a 😛

1. WINE ought to work - someone even got it working with graphics. Essentially if you can get your Linux box set up to run Windows DX games like [uhh knowledge of gaming scene suddenly inadequate], Muon1 ought to run, and not so slow either.

2. Recently AMDs and especially the FX51s have been giving out a lot more bang per GHz on Muon1, which is not unusual for a floating-point intensive program. Also fast FSB _does_ help quite a lot. This isn't SSE2/3 optimised so perhaps if you have some very fast Intel machines you might want to try a project that can benefit from those.

3. The forum here is a little on the flakey side... for instance when I click on page "2" of a topic I get a blank listing, all the posts appearing under "1".

stephenbrooks Thanks for the posts. Anandtech just did a bunch of upgrades so it might be issues from that. Thanks for the info on muon1, should come in handy. 🙂

Hi Stephen, it sometimes happens when you click on the last page...don't know why it's blank...😉

Thanx for the info! 😀

Oh yeah, the last page seems to pop up as soon as there are enough posts to fill up the second page, even though there aren't enough posts to start the second page 😛
