The sad thing is that all EA did by buying the NFL rights was ensure a lot of people just would not buy football games anymore after playing Madden for a couple years. NFL2k1 is, was, and will always be the holy grail of online football gaming...which tells you how bad Madden really is, especially when they bought the liscence and moved into the next gen consoles...

slick thats in the wrong forum, so the search would have missed it...

While no NFL license, I'd be willing to be they will allow ful customization of players names and even likely team name and/or logos. I would MUCH rather play a game with "incorrect names" versus the tripe that EA puts out.

That is great news. It would be nice if the Rosters and "Custom Teams" are easily customizable with export/import features. You know so people could make user mods that are easily downloaded and imported. Some one might want to create custom leagues with.. oh I dont know NFL teams and players.

I really hope they find and exploit some loophole in that stupid "license"

Then I hope EA turns around and does the same thing to them with the MLB series

I can't see myself ever getting another football game anytime soon. I got Madden 07, but if you just want to play football with friends you don't really need to keep getting the new ones every year.

Eh? NBA 2k7 is lightyears ahead of Live 07. I haven't played NHL, but its supposed to be better as well

LIVE 07 (as with 06) is hardly even a basketball game. Its an embarrassment (or should be) to EA. LEGIONS of die-hard LIVE fans have left from the franchise in the past 2 versions. There were lengthy petitions from nbalive.org etc. I know my 2 long running leagues (since 2001) for MAdden and LIVE switched to the 2K series. The EA titles were hardly sports games, they were arcade games. Steve Nash dunking? Please.

EA lost the crown for good in 06. 07 they just slipped further behind.

EDIT: Looks like EA got that license as well.
