Problem: I JUST got this new computer (i'll list spec later) and installed xp and everything went smooth. Burning dvds was great! at 8x i was burning them at around 8mins a pop(alcohol120). Well, after installing sp2 I got some major errors and decided to go back to the "norm" for me, win2k. After loading everything up I tried burning a dvd and it took 37mins! And it took well past an 1hr. to copy one (dvdshrink) when it took 20mins using XP. So what is the problem here? And yes, I have tried differnt programs. All take forever. Same media also. Thanks in advance for any help. I really don't wish to use xp again...

*CLIFF NOTES* Was using xp burning dvd's was great. switched to win2k, now it take forever! whats wrong?

Yes, this is probably what's wrong.
Go to Device Manager and select IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Select the controller your CD burner is on (probably secondary) and select properties.
Click the Advanced Settings tab, and on the Transfer Mode button, select 'DMA if available' and reboot.
That should hopefully fix it.
