Actually you should have used the backup utility included with Win 2000 to back up your system state, which includes your Boot files, registry, ini files and WFP files, component services class database and performanc counter config info.
Do this everytim before you install something pthat is potentially harmful. i.e. BETA VERSIONS YUCK!!!
Here,s how you do it:
Click Start--->Programs--->Accesories--->System Tools--->, and select Backup
go to the back up page and put a check in the System State box and then scedule your backup.
Restoring is just as easy click the restore tab select system state in both w=sides of the window and click Start Restore.
This will save you a truck load of trouble.
