What to do? I have been reading alot of posts on various forums about the Dual Channel problems with using 4 dimms. The fact it likes to clock the FSB back to 166 when you put 4 dimms in. There have been other posts that say 4 dimms work at 200 fsb Dual Channel and that you set the 2T command rate.

Motherborad will be the MSI K8N Neo2 Platium
Cpu is the AMD 64 3200

The question is what gives the best performance and what will allow you to overclock the best?

Using 2x1024 Corsair 3200 TwinX dimms?
or
Using 4x512 Corsair 3200 LL TwinX dimms?

With the 1024 dimms, your latency is worse than the 512 dimms but does that affect your performance enough over the 512 dimms with a command rate of 2T?

Has anyone got any ideas on this or has someone tested this?

Oh and the reason I am asking about putting 2gig into a machine is to play Everquest 2 which seems to be one [content edited] of a hog of memory!

Any help here would be greatly apprectiated :)

I know with the Intel chipsets using 4 dimms provides better performance according to my testing on benchmarks. I tested with 4x256 and 2x512. If you are overclocking you would want to stay away from using 4 dimms, it will hinder you.

I doubt that you'll notice much of a performance difference in any game with 2GB, even EQ2. It's a waste of money. By the time games roll around that need that much, you'll be needing to upgrade your mobo, CPU, and memory anyway, so it's not even worth it to entertain the myth of "future proofing".

id say 4 dimms faster cuz i have yet to see 1024mb dimms with timings as good as of the best 512mb ones.
